Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.

That's how many little dings I found in my MINI's body panel over the right rear tire when I got home from a business trip last night. I left it in my apartment building's parking garage during the week, and the Ford Explorer next to me decided to open its rear door REPEATEDLY into my car. The dings are small, not even dents, but this ticks me off!

Anyway, I went to the staff and they relocated my MINI to a motorcycle parking spot between two columns. Only two inches on either side of the car when pulling in, but no one will be opening any doors into me any time soon. Plus, it's closer to the entrance and the elevator. Small bonus, but it's something.

I'll be checking the other forums for any ding removal help, but my guess is that they're here to stay. At least they didn't remove any paint.

Just wanted to share my pain.

Bummer.

Every year there is a Z3/Z4 homecoming at the plant here in Spartanburg for all Z3/Z4 owners. They offer paintless ding removal for FREE at this event. I wish we could have some sort of event that would be similar for MINI owners seeing as how it is a niche car sort of like the Z3/Z4, but oh well. Sorry to hear about your dings. You may want to find a paintless dent repair specialist in your area. They are extremely talented individuals who can remove dings and small dents with special tools. Hope you don't experience any more DINGS.

Paintless ding repair is my god.

I, too, amassed several dings a few months ago and had resigned myself to their perpetuity until my dealer referred me to a local guy.

My doors are BEAUTIFUL!!! And he did both doors (3 dings--actually bordering on dents) for $50.

Best money I ever spent, can't believe how absolutely perfect my doors are. Perhaps ask your dealer for a recommendation, or find out who does their dent repair (provided it's an outside contractor) and then find him PERSONALLY. Remove the middleman as much as possible and that should keep the price down.

Good luck

MINI doors, with their lack of body molding are prone to dings. The only reason I don't have any yet, after almost 9 months of ownership, is because I'm an extremely **** parker. Sorry to hear the news... damn careless people!

Thank god, in 9400 miles, I have only one small crease in the passenger door. Hardly noticible unless you're in the right light. Noticed it for the first time at the MINI North Scottsdale reunion last month.

Thanks all...I think I'll make it through this trying time...

Actually, I wasn't as upset as I thought I would have been. Ticked off, sure, but not really upset.

And I'm glad to learn about the paintless dent/ding repair. As soon as I have some free time, I'll look into it...

Sorry to hear about the dings. But nice to know most of these did not remove the paint.

I am afraid to leave the MINI anywhere, so when we go to mall lots, I take the company car!

Regards,
Red

I'm an incredibly **** parker...but its worked for me so far! I still got nailed by a hail storm though a month or so back and I took my MINI to Dent Works in Ft. Worth. Monte Purvis (...an MCS owner, himself) did a flawless job of removing numerous hail dings. (...mostly in the roof...is the bonnet made of heavier guage metal?) I hope it works for you 'cause these dings are real heartbreakers.
