R50/53 Thinking about upgrading my '03 MC for an '04 MCS
jurni,
i have had my mcs for 40 days/39 nights, and
from monday-friday i drive 45 mi. per day,
approx. 1/2 highway and 1/2 city - stop n go.
according to my on-board computer (take it or leave it),
i average 27 mpg,and average 26.7 mph.
i usually ride in 6th on the highway at 70mph
or so, while showing between 2-3k on the tach.
in city traffic, i do take off the line more in the power
band, 3500-4500 rpm.

If you are trading for a car more to your liking then you are trading up. An S owner could trade for a ONE if available and still be upgrading. Price is not the only factor. A Cooper owner could upgrade to a CVT, or a CVT could upgrade to a Cooper 5spd, personel preference is the only factor. Far to many are to easily offended by others opinions. We started with a Cooper 5spd, and chose to keep it. We also Have an S and will keep it. We have a physically challenged child who will quite likely end up with a CVT when she can drive. All 3 are excellent vehicles any one of which could be considered upgrading from any other. Just depends on your point of view and what you are looking for. If you take offense at others opinions perhaps you need to look in the mirror and re-evaluate your choice!
>>I'm a bit confused with your post. Are you considering a MCS for better performance or better gas mileage? As an owner of a MCS, I can assure you that you will NOT get anywhere near 37 mpg on the highway, in fact your gas mileage will undoubtably be worse than that of the standard MC.

Test manual-transmission base Cooper averaged 24.5 mpg. Test S averaged 25.9, but 20.9 with gas-eating performance tests. Mini recommends premium fuel for both engines.
I believe it!

I agree with the person earlier who said it is all about your choices, not just a matter of upgrading. Upgrading means you can get something your not with the current model. I have a Pepper/White MINI - so if a MCS owner wanted one they would have to get a MC - So would they be upgrading since they can't get Pepper/White in the MCS? Not really, just a matter of choice.

Sorry but this is no longer correct.
Pepper White is a choice. You can order your 04 MCS in Pepper White TODAY if you want to take delivery in October or November.

do you think the good gas mileage is due to the pulley?
