OK, as I drive down the freeway on my way to work each day I pass the former/future site of BMW of San Diego. They temporarily relocated the dealership a few blocks away and have completely leveled the old location. The new buildings are now going up and there is a very large building, and a much smaller building. I'm hoping that the smaller building might be a future MINI dealer. Has anyone heard anything about this? There is nothing on the miniusa site, or on BMW of San Diego's site. Anybody have any inside info? It would make sense to have another MINI dealer in San Diego. The closest dealer is north of San Diego in a city called Escondido, so there is actually no MINI dealer within the city limits of San Diego, yet we are the 8th largest city in America.

I'll "second" the vote for another MINI dealer in San Diego county. That way there may be some competition that might get us somewhere close to MSRP!!!! I'm still considering going out of county or even out of state to make my purchase!

I thought about that myself. I deal with some of contractors, so I'll sniff around, but I haven't heard anything. Wouldn't that be great?

We actually got one of our MINIs at MSRP from Brecht. For purchase they do have to compete with Irvine, Century and Long Beach. I would like some other choices for service, although Del Dios is a nice excuse to Motor.

I got on the list for a Cooper in Feb '03 @ Long Beach MINI (MSRP). The ship carrying my MINI docks in California 6/27/03. If you have patience, you can go with them, otherwise you're paying extra in California from what I've heard.

The smaller building on the left (south), where the old BMW of San Diego used to be is where the new BMW used car location will be located, not a new MINI dealer. The large building on the right (north) where Kearny Mesa Toyota used to be is where the new BMW automobile location will be. And I agree, San Diego needs another MINI dealer.

Brecht wouldn't do MSRP for me without some add-ons (lo-jack, wheels, etc), so I went with Long Beach. When I told the salesperson @ Brecht that I would get MSRP at Long Beach he said, "They're selling for MSRP? Wow." Yeah, like he didn't know.
