Fuel starvation? Power loss!

When powering up and shifting into second I sometimes have the car "stall", as though there is a momentary fuel loss. If I let up on the gas and then reaccelerate the power curve comes back. Why would this occur?

Do you have DSC? On my car, a momentary lack of traction can cause the DSC to intervene with the engine, a few moments later (or if I let off and step down again ) all's back to normal.

That's why when I go to the track I turn it off, it really adversely affects my car coming out of lower speed corners

Thanks, Minidave, I'll turn off the DSC when in competitive mode. Regarding redlining - not quite but high on the revs in 1st when shifting. Thanks for the response!

We have had some high revving issues with our 06 MINI transmission. When we would accellerate the RPM's would rev without much torque. After talking with other MINI owners at MITM we learned that our particular transmission is computer controlled. Our new friends told us to disconnct the battery over night, reconnect the battery and drive it to the limit. That's what we did , and it worked very well.

Final bit of info; the DSC evidently prevents some things, including torque steer. I read the manual and it said that the DSC, in essence, kicks in when it feels anything happening traction wise that shouldn't. I can feel significant torque steer at high RPM levels prior to shifting, so when I power shift and keep the RPMs up, the DSC shuts down the RPMs if it feels a potential for traction loss, or torque steer. All in all a fine little feature!
