R50/53 Does Your MINI Still Feel New Too?
I'm a proud owner of a new 2003 PW/B MC. I have just reached about 3,500 miles.
I feel like I just got the car. It's just as much fun as day one.
Other cars I've had in the past lost their new feel after a month. And they felt used after 6 months.
So I was thinking, does your Mini still feel new too and how many miles to you have on it?

29000+ miles and it still seems relatively new. It's definitely in better shape than a couple of my friend's cars that have similar (or less) mileage. Why people spend $20000, $30000, or $40000+ on a car and don't take care of it is beyond me.
Ants, you work at a MINI dealer...isn't it some sort of condition of employment that your MINI look mint??
But yes, I've noticed that at 15K, my MINI looks and smells much newer inside than many other cars I've had. I'm not super **** re. keeping it clean, so this says something about the car I guess. Well, I suppose the new smell has something to do with the large amount of plastic off-gassing inside the car... Hummmmmm.

Yep. Our 10 month old '02 Cooper CVT stills smells and looks brand new with 8K+ miles on the odo. As a matter of fact since the last software update (33.2) the car drives and feels soooo much smoother than it originally did when we first took delivery.
We really love the awesome Leatherette interior. Seats still look factory fresh and the material has a pleasant "aroma".
The car drives and feels tight like a drum. Not a single rattle or squeak. Excellent build quality.
I am looking forward to my new '04 MCS coming up in October.

Most of my friends comment on how clean my car always is, has close to 19,000 miles on it now. And my wife has the more expensive car and she treats it like a toxic waste dump

>>I hear that! I could buy 2 MINIs (well, base Coopers) for what my wife's vehicle cost, and I have to use a shovel to clean it out enough to get into it when I drive it. In 20 years I've never understood that...
married for 20 years and your still questioning yourself as to why you can't understand women???

I still look out into the garage every once in a while to take a peek at IQQIMINI. She's 5 months old, 6500 miles, and still SMELLS and LOOKS new.
Of course, I quit smoking just a few months before I got my MINI, so my baseline for smells is still being redeveloped. This is the first car I have ever owned in which I have not smoked. Amazing the difference.
I still get giddy when I see other MINIs on the road and on TV. I still go to the MINIUSA site and build dream cars. I sitll look for pictures on the Internet. I still look for places while I am out driving around to take pictures of IQQIMINI.
It's just ridiculous. Seriously. Good thign my wife has a sense of humor and patience.

Same hear. I've jokingly threatened to sell my wife's car and replace it with one of those big orange garbage trucks. She got the message with that one.

10,200 [ish] miles... purring like a kitten and pretty as she can be!
lovin' Gidget more than ever! My boyfriend was so surprised that he likes my car as much as he does. When i first met him, he didn't know I drove a MINI and when he found out [and begged to take her for a spin] he was in LOVE.

WOW MC can even help people quit smoking!!! Amazing indeed.
Now I say a prayer:
Dear person in heaven or wherever you may be, may I love my mini forever despite all the envious and jealous people on the new jersey highways. May I turn away when someone tries to cut me off or stare or point at me for hours. May I have enough energy to walk the extra mile in the crowded parking lots in order to avoid people denting my mini madge. And last but not least may I wash mini madge every single time that one of those lovely pigeons uses her as a toilet. AMEN.

Me too! I quit in order to afford the car, and it was a fabulous trade. Mini-cigs=
Sadie is nearly a year old, 4400 miles on here and she definitely still feels and smells new. A friend in L.A. said she'd never seen a dirty Mini. Is it because we all take such good care of our cars (wash, detail, no food, etc.)? She says all Minis look so shiny!

I don't think I can take a step as big as giving up coffee, but as I was looking down at the wear marks where I wedge my cup between the parking break and passanger seat of my camry, I realized my drinking and driving days would be over when my cooper finally makes it across the water. (three more months...
)
But just knowing the MINI is coming has already improved my habits somewhat. I've started waxing my current cars once a month just so I'll be in practice...

My MINI is so new (512 miles) that I don't even have my plates yet. I'm going to pick them up on Saturday. I wave to the few other MINI drivers (no pun intended) that I see on the road, I look out the front window before I go to bed at night to see if she's alright, etc. It is so much fun to drive that last weekend my wife and I drove up I-87 (we live in Bergen County, NJ) to get hot fudge cakes at the Bob's Big Boy at the Interstate Service Area between Newburgh and New Paltz - like a 110 mile round trip. Other than nearly getting blinded by some good ol' boy in a huge SUV who thought it would be cute to run up my tail, it was a great trip, and the hot fudge cake was great too.
Does anyone else notice that you tend to drive the MINI just a little faster and a little harder that we do in other cars? Especially around corners. I can't believe how flat the MINI takes corners. My son, who loves my MINI and takes it out whenever he gets a chance, told me (after he drove it for the first time) that I was going to get in a lot of trouble in my MINI. What the hell, that's what we got the cars for, right?
I also notice a lot of MINI's on television lately. I saw my first MINI commercial the other day, and one was parked in front of the witches' house on Charmed in last night's episode (probably a repeat, but I was desparate for something new to watch). Also, there was a MINI in the Sunday comics last week, in a strip called "Adam @ Home". He takes his minivan to the car wash and, of course, it shrinks and comes out the other end as a MINI.
Happy motoring all.

My MCS has 9k miles on it now. I don't notice the new car smell, but a friend the other day said it still did. When I got it 3 months ago I remember a strong and disctinctive car smell.
The cloth seat is starting to show some wear. The white wheels have lots of poc marks.
Other than that the car still looks cherry.

In 3 months I’ll have had my MCS 1 year. It feels as it did when it was new as I sit in it every morning. It does feel better in handling now only because I know how much I can push it.
