...thought I'd pass this along FYI. It was sent to, and subsequently posted by, a representative of Westchester MINI on one of the other MINI boards:

"To all MINI sales managers. Due to the continued ramp up constraints, the factory has asked us to delete option 522(xenon lights) and ZSP sport package for May production for both the Cooper and Cooper S respectively. Please note that 522 for the Cooper will have to be turned off for the June ordering period. All non-customersold orders have been modified and yours systems will be updated accordingly. Some orders will not be modified so every effort will be made to get this cars produced with xenon (Cooper) or ZSP (Cooper S), however delays may be expected. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OPTIONS IN ZSP ARE AVAILABLE INDIVIDUALLY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE INACTIVE 522***."

In conjunction with other info sent to the representative, this means..
Cooper: No xenons for pre-spec'd May builds or any June builds, but sport package is available.
Cooper S: Xenons are available for pre-spec'd May builds. No xenons for any June builds (since xenons are part of the sport package for the S, this means no sport package availability during this time). You can purchase the sport package piecemeal, but you cannot get the xenons in accordance with the above timeframe.

July builds will have xenons for both the Cooper and S (therefore sport package will be available for S).

The bulletin is poorly worded, as it can be interpreted in more than one way, but this seems to be the current status. Hope I didn't confuse anyone more .

 

I'm confused? Where in that paragraph does it say June spec MINI S will not have the complete Sports Package? I don't see it at all.

I contacted MINI today and they say they don't know anything about this??

Apparently, there was a prior bulletin that indicated this to be the case, according to the person's post.

 

Well, since I didn't want to wait for a custom S I had signed up for a specd model coming to my dealer. It was an S with just the sport package and not the premium package that I wanted as well. I got a call from said dealer last Friday informing me that the sport package had been removed from that car and three others they were getting in. I'm assuming it had something to do with the below memo. Happily my dealer was able to solve my problem with a custom ordered mini, at least that's what their telling me.

I got more clarification on this from MINI. Here is what they say:

May MINI and MINI S cars won't have Xenon headlights. June MINI won't have them either. June MINI S models that were already pre-spec by individuals WILL have them... but they rest will NOT. And any orders placed this week and the remainder this month will NOT have them either. They hope to have Xenon lights for all MINIs sometime in mid to late JULY.

So, anyone who pre-specced a MINI S for JUNE build will have them... the rest will not get them.
