Cracked my taillight :(

i hit my drivers side taillight, and the clear lens has a crack in it going side to side, about 1.5" long. i havent seen any fog or water get in it yet, and its rained quite a few times since i did it (we were moving, i was taking a stereo reciever out of my car, and i accidently his the corner on the light)

am i safe to get a taillight off of ebay? or are those the aftermarket crappy ones made to look like OEM? im gonna get blackout's eventually, but i still want to replace the crack before, just so any fog, etc doesnt get inside.

wheres the best/cheapest place to get a new light?

ill get a pic tonite.

i had exactly the same problem, but i didn't hit mine, mine just cracked, and the dealer refused to give me a new one as the warranty, i can't remember the reason but it was something stupid

anyways... they manage to get one from stock that was off another car... 35 bucks they sold it to me... fine

i think alot of people are running non-oem tail lights without any issues, i highly doubt there's going to be problems

alright, ill prally try one of the ebay ones, since its going to get covered anyways.

i see your mini is black, do you have blackout tail lights? if so, wheres the best place to get them? id rather not tint them, my dad will get pissed lol.

i know that one MINI site sells them for like 49.99 i think? are the actual covers any good?

I haven't tried it, but Outmotoring sells it and it's where I plan to get mine from:

I also plan to get the sidemarker tint too for a darker look:

If you are going to tint anyway just get the tint and cover the crack.

I got the bulk tint film, not window but for the outside, and covered my OEM tails. It looks great and it should seal a crack. Just look for the ebay tail light tint that is not custom cut. The stuff I got could do about 6 lights so if you decide to replace the light afterward you should still have enough tint to do another set.
