Come to Central Cal sometime and you'll see that they do help. Fog lights aren't to help you see they are to help people see you. That pea soup you are talking about, we get it here for 3 or 4 weeks at a time. So theres no way to get around not driving in it.

When you are talking about the REAR fog, yes. FRONT fog lights are designed to cast light under the fog, hence the low mounting, to aid the driver's view of the road.
