Want imput on buying a new mini

HI, I have a 2004 mini with a cvt. Here is the situation. I am at 48500. My warranty will be up soon and I am really thinking of trading it in. THis past week I had a stress crack and had windshield replaced. My air conditioning was blowing hot air out too so they fixed that for now.Lucky I was under warranty for this stuff. I also live 50 something miles away from my dealer which is kind of a pain when I have to go down there. It is a pain to set up a car loan if the car has to stay. I have stayed down there for hours just so I didnt have to keep driving back and forth. Since I have had my mini it has been towed 2 times down there had leaks fixed ..something with the transmission had to be fixed..so minor stuff. Now here is what I am trying to figure out. Wouldnt I be crazy to keep my car taking the above stuff into consideration..knowing I will soon be responsible for repairs, tows etc.I have never had a car that had this many problems before a warranty was out. I am kind of nervous my trans is going to blow and that would really suck. I was thinking I should get a car with a dealer closer to home too.It does seem like a simple thing but I really really really love my mini. Then I was thinking maybe I should get a brand new one. But I still have the drive to the dealer. Are the new cvts any better then the older ones?..sorry if this rambles on but this is how my brain has been these last few days.:impatient so any opinions would be great

The new Coopers don't have a CVT, they have a regular 6 speed automatic transmission. It's really cool. You should get one. You'll love it more than your CVT.

Get a new MINI

As a new MINI owner with the Steptronic, it is great. Only have about 800 miles on the MINI, but what a fun 800 miles.

If you have the desire and the need, go new MINI.

better off with a fresh start and a new warranty. so i say in with the new out with the old. it's not worth all the hassle after warranty is over. well of course it's worth the hassle..i mean it's a MINI!!
but i vote for new.

im in the exact same situation. I had been waiting for my warranty to run out so I could do some performance mods, but now I'm seriously considering selling the car and just getting a new one. The resale value is only a few thousand dollars less than the price of a new car, so the way I see it is that I would basically be paying a few grand for a 50,000 mile/4 year extended warranty (with the added perk of a a brand new car, of course). I'm even thinking about getting the exact same color. I really love my car (for some reason, I don't like owning brand new cars. too much to worry about), but I'm more worried about the car crapping out once the warranty expires (my window motor just went out, god only knows whats next)...

has anyone on here owned the R53 and the R56? there's a few things about the R56 i'm not crazy about (body style), and I'm just wondering how you would compare the two

My wife has an '05 R53, but my R56 is won't arrive for another 4-6 weeks. I'd be happy to do a comparison for you after I get it but you'll probably get a lot of responses before then.
