Park Distance Sensor Removal?

I am installing a new rear bumper cover. However, my MINI has the parking sensors and the new bumper cover does not have the cut out for them. I'd rather not have the sensors, I like the cleaner look of the bumper without them.

My question is this, if I remove the sensors, do I have to have the computer reset by the dealer or will they simply not function?

You paid extra for a car with options. Why take resale value away from your car? I know you like the clean look, but still....

Who sold U a rear bumper cover w/o inquiring as to whether the car had PDC. Personally, that's one option I'd put on my 144 inch long car, because my truck is way longer and the MINI is kind of disorienting in its shortness.

I thought there were some retrofit instructions on DIY link of motoringfile.com. You could probabaly do the reverse.
