Ive been reading a lot of old posts about rear fogs. i have an 04 mcs, and a rear fog light, however it does not have its own toggle switch, it comes on with the regular fogs, every picture i have seen so far shows the rear fog as being red...but mine is white? is this normal? what color should it be? is the bulb red or white, and what color is the lens, red or white?

 

You are referring to the center lamp in the rear bumper. MINI changed the configuration of the rear lights. For '02 to '04, the lamp in the bumper is the backup light (white). For '05 to '06, the backup light was moved to the taillights and the lamp in the bumper is the rear fog (red).

In your 04, the rear fog is the top bulb in your taillights (won't light unless you get a toggle for it and activate it).

 

ahh okay, thanks for clearing that up. thats good news to me.

 

But with a simple mod that only takes a few minutes you can make the fog lights on your '04 come on as additional brake-lights.

Try searching "brake light mod" on this forum. There are detailed instructions on how to do this safety mod.

 

I have seen some older models with half backup (white) and half fog (red) in the same housing in the middle of rear bumper. Is that aftermarket?

 

Hmmm... I've never seen or heard of a MINI like that. Except mine.
