A longshot for sure

My neighbor backed into my baby(2003 MCS) and his trailor hitch jabbed a hole through my rear bumper. I was in my car backing up as well but he was backing out of his yard and was on my side of the driveway. The police wouldn't do a report because it was on private property. He(my neighbor) told me that he told his agent that he was on my side of the driveway but that it was both our fault. That's BS to me but I guess I will have to let our insurance companies fight over it. The real reason for the post is to see if anyone may have or know where I might get a salvage bumper as the whole thing will have to be replaced. My luck is the insurance company will do a 50/50 and I will have to fork out the rest. Thanks for any feedback

Ouch!! I'm sorry that happened to you.

In your shoes, I wouldn't accept even partial blame. Let your insurance carrier fight the fight on your behalf. That's what you pay them to do. Don't even speak to his insurance company. Refer them directly to yours.

What color is your MINI? I know it's a long shot, by I've seen bumpers and such for sale on ebay - recently even. Just search "MINI Cooper" and about 4000 items pop up.

Sounds like a Word vs Word situation and in my line of work, I see a lot of those claims.

Likely each insurance company will pay for their own insured's damages and neither of you will be considered to be at fault.

That's good because the impact to your rates will be minimal or non existent.

That's bad because you'll have to pay your Collision deductible to have your car repaired.

Try here: http://www.car-part.com/

One of the best auto salvage sites for parts all over the country. FYI- when you put in your car info to search, mini is under BMW Mini Cooper.

Post a WTB in the Marketplace specifying your car's color. There are probably plenty of perfect covers floating around from all the Aero Kits sold.

The wife backed into a sign and tore the bumper this past winter. Sub Zero temperatures will do that I guess.

Anyway, I posted a note on Ext Mods for anyone that added a CR aero kit with a stock bumber... For $200 I had a new cover sent in CR...not bad.

Try that first. Install is easy. For $200. Doesn't weigh much so shipment is cheap. Need some creative packaging though
