Broken boot?

Today my car's trunk stopped working. The doors work fine, when I press the trunk release button, the lights flash. But then when I go to open it, nothing. Has this happened to anyone else?
I had to jam my arm between the seat and back cover thing to access my seat release.

Would this be covered under warrenty? It's a 2005 Cooper S with 26k.

Thanks for your time.

Should be covered, unless negligence or malicious intent on your part somehow caused damage.

You didn't take a hammer to your car's booty in anger, did you?

Seriously, though, is it possible that something like a piece of cloth or leather, or some other flexible material got wedged into the locking mechanism in some way that it is "jammed" shut?

Wierd.

This morning I went to go open my trunk and it opens up without delay. I guess she was trying to stop me from leaving without her last night (Christine anyone?), haha.

Time to give her a wash, she deserves it.

water in micro switch

you might be careful on the wash. I have a problem with mine. Water can leak in around the latch and short out the micro switch. It is covered under warrenty, I just have not had mine fixed yet.

Sounds like Jasper2222 is right. The switch in the trunk grip handle turns green and fuzzy, causing the trunk only to open once in the while - hense your problem.... Bring it in, its a warrenty issue...Thank god!!!
