Philly Region SCCA Autocross Novice School 4/28/12 - 4/29/12
Philly Region SCCA will hold its Autocross Novice School Saturday 4/28/12 and Sunday 4/29/12, and there are only 5 seats left.
This course is an introduction to the sport of autocross and to basic car control concepts and skills. It is a 2 day performance driving instruction course that includes about a 3 hour classroom session on Saturday and then a full day of seat time and driving instruction on Sunday on a huge airstrip runway.
You must pre-register here:
http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.status/uidEvent/A9504E22-F92C-3B8D-680C713AC55BB225
Cost is $135 (or $125 if you are an SCCA member) to cover our rental of the lot.
This is a GREAT car control driving school, even if you never intend to Autocross in your lifetime. (Although I highly recommend it. It's a very addictive sport.) You will be able to drive your own car at the limit of control in a very safe environment. We will get you to explore the limits of your car and teach you 1) how to approach the limit without going over and 2) how to react and correct when you inevitably do drive over the limits of the car's grip and traction.
All you need are working seatbelts in your car and a Snell 2000-rated or better helmet (A or M are both acceptable). If you do not have a helmet, loaner helmets will be available.
I will be one of several volunteer instructors at this school for the Sunday driving session. Although I am autoXing my MINI for the first time this season, I do have 10 years of autoX experience in several other cars. I have also been an instructor with Philly region for about 7 years now.
Hope to see some more MINIs out there!
