Hello all,
I drove my 2004 MCS this morning without any problems. Several hours later, I hop in to go grocery shopping, and the steering wheel takes both my hands to turn the wheel! It is resisting big time! I managed to get it back into the garage, but am afraid to drive it.

Any idea what might be wrong? Between the morning trip and the one I wanted to take was about 5 hours, the car was in the garage, and no one was near it.

power steering belt broke or flew off. Thats what it sounds like. Is it making any noise?

 

There is no belt. It is an electric pump. The fuse blew or the pump is toast.

 

There is no noise at all. I didn't know anything was wrong until I tried to turn the wheel to back out of my driveway. I'm calling Rasmussen MINI tomorrow (and my extended warranty ran out in March of course)

 

Check the fuse first.
