Rare Bugatti crashes into trees.

A car worth more than £800,000 was involved in a collision with a van before crashing into trees.

The accident occurred in heavy rain on a 40mph section of Renfree Way, Shepperton, Surrey, on Sunday.

The rare Bugatti Veyron collided with a Vauxhall Astra van carrying a pregnant woman, who was taken to hospital as a precaution but later went home.

No one else was hurt but police have reported the Bugatti driver for driving without due care and attention.

Surrey Police said the luxury car was driven by a man who had a male passenger with him.

A man and a woman were travelling in the Astra.

The accident occurred at 1440 GMT and the road was closed until 1630 GMT.

The eight-litre, hand-crafted Veyron has a top speed in excess of 250mph.

The 1,000 horsepower Bugatti can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds.

Huh. For some reason I thought they only came in that blue color. Where are all these 300 cars, if there are only 12 in Britain? Maybe one of those oil sheik guys has a few dozen of them.

 

Dude, as far as this article is saying, it was a RENTAL. Somebody forked over 20K British Pounds for the rental. He was doing 100mph in a 40mph zone. Look at the result...

Ya know, someone can do some stupid driving in a Chevy Chevette, hurt some people and it's basically just news. When we read about something similar and it involves uberbucks supercars, it becomes sensationalist schadenfreude. It's just more proof that dollars and sense are not always in direct proportion.

 

Wouldn't want to be paying the repair bill for that one!

 

But how many Chevettes were produced? When you concider 1/300th of the Veyron supply has just been wrecked it's a bit more astonishing. This would be the same as someone crashing 1,000 Chevettes at the exact same time, which would also make the news and be exceptionally entertaining, possibly worthy of some sort of award.

 

Oh well, one less eyesore on the road.

I must say, that is up there with the Aztek as one of the most hedious cars on the road today.

Whoever would pay that kinda money for a car that looks like it got beaten with the ugly stick has more money than they should be allowed to have.

well the french need to make better cars i mean sheesh couldnt even stand up to a collision at around 100mph
