WRX STi owners and MINI

I dont like to generalize much, but this seems consistant.

Is it just me, or are all WRX STi owners total ******? They drive like idiots, and when they see a MINI or another car that 'threatens' their precious manhood, they are even worse.

I will take a spirited corner or onramp, and some idiot has to prove to me he can do it 20 MPH faster and 12 times more wreckless. God forbid you are going the speed limit when they decide they *have* to be in front of you at all costs. I had a 2007 black one almost run me off the highway trying to 'race' me, when I was just minding my business. And today a brand new grey one was tearing all over the place in snowing traffic to get by me. (two highlights of my experiences)

Seems that everytime I see one, there is a 23 yr old idiot in there trying to cause as many wrecks and leave as many middle fingers up in his wake.

Anyone else have these experiences? I'm sure there are some WRX STi owners out there who are cool, seems the ones in colorado are douchebags.

I would be very careful with generalizations.

I don't know about all that. But this is one of the main reasons I ended up with a MINI. I've wanted an STI for as long as I can remember. Test Drove one and almost got one twice. In the end it came down to 2 things my wife told me there was nothing that I couldn't do to my MINI and with the STI there would have been some major restrictions. 2nd everyone I talked to that has an STI and everyone thats on the STI bored I'm on was kind of a jerk and didn't want to help unless there was something in it for them. So now I want to go and Build a MINI that will kick the *** of any STI out there.

Hope the bank account agrees :lol! Good luck, as I would personally love to see it.

Sti's have awesome engines, and the AWD is great, but I would take a MINI any day of the week. An Sti interior could never even touch that of a MINI.

Stay safe.

Like I said, its a generalization and I dont usually do that at ALL...

The WRX STi is an awesome car, no doubt. It just seems to attract 'that guy' . You all know 'that guy', dont you?!

Haha. One of "that guy's" at my school drives an SRT-4. I always tell him his Neon is way to fast, and the airport is due south...

been done and didn't cost that much... the reality is sure.... the same amount put into an STI would net a faster car.... but hey... it's a MINI... and seeing a fast STI is like seeing a book in a book store... well in that it's not nifty... althoguht I haven't seen any on the street.... only track cars.... I always look forward to finding fast cars out there... but haven't found any except the guys I already know... so now I play with bikes...

Yes I would agree there does seem to be an element of "Biggus Dickus" associated with this car. For the record even though I appreciate the engineering they look like a cheap car.

I would also caution you against generalizing too much. Is there a high number of idiot STI drivers in Denver? Maybe. Are all STI drivers in Denver ******? Definitely not! Subarus are extremely popular in CO and there is a very strong performance (WRX/STI) car culture in Denver/Boulder/CO Springs. Sure, the majority consists of young men and a certain percentage of them drive like idiots. I tend to see more 4WD SUV's and pickups barreling down the snow packed roads at unsafe (stopping) speeds than Subys.

I am good friends with a number of Denver's STI drivers and they are all gentleman who drive responsibly (on the street, the track is another matter). I realize that you're probably just venting but...

When Tuls says "he plays with bikes" he means that he likes to chase them down and pass them with his MINI.

IMO, what it comes down to is the person behind the wheel. Every, and I mean EVERY, camp has its a22holes. Mustangs, Camaros, trucks, jeeps, Beemers, VW's, Subaru people, bikers, ricers, all of them do. I come across dicks from all groups and I've met really cool people from all groups. It depends on who's behind the wheel. Not what's printed on the wheel.

I also think it has to do with, what type of person would buy a WRX. My friend has one, and hes a pretty big gear head and is a fast driver.

Over on the NASIOC, SRT and EvolutionM boards, the general consensus is that Minis should come standard with tampon dispensers (I am not making this up).

There, how does it feel to be on the receiving end of a stupid generalization?

This is the funniest post all day! Man, I wish I could see that!

I haven't made any cry, but I have had them pull over afterwards and ask "what the hell you got in that thing?"

Watch it Chris - I'm part of the JDM crowd and I don't appreciate your generalization of us.

My car has a JDM ashtray in it - it's technically the same as a USDM ashtray but it smells like Japanese cigarettes.

Like I said, I dont usually do this, but every STi I have seen on the road in the last 6 months I have owned my MINI has been a *****. I'm sure there are extremely nice STi owners, no doubt.

I would like to meet them, actually.

people sound so stupid when making generalizations about cars and their drivers. maybe if you saw every subaru sti driver and then made a generalization about what you think driving like a **** is it would be different.

Some from our community fall into the jerk catagory (against Sub's on the road AND on their forums....THAT WAS/IS embarrassing!) It could be that they haven't forgotten yet?

Must be Denver

It's not the Subie drivers here. It's the SUV (let's get really generalized) "drivers." Seriously, the older Toyota SUVs drive like banshees.

Next time, pretend they don't exist. That is NOT what they want.
