Ordered a 2007 BMW 335i...

Well I sold my *other* ride, the 06 Mustang GT to a military guy who's exporting it to Germany it's cool to think of it getting to run free on the autobahn (I still have not seen that commercial-!!)

I decided its time for something a bit more engineered than what Ford can muster, so I've ordered a 2007 BMW 335i coupe, twin turbo inline 6, manual 6 spd tranny, titanium silver with black dakota leather, brushed aluminum accents, and the sport package, which brings it to about $45k.. my build date is the 4th week of Jan (or sooner-maybe) which means I should take delivery in early March.

I'm kind of excited because this will be the nicest new car I've ever got a hold of- despite all the high spec MINIs.

I've read this sucker is really fast too...

Not a pic of mine, of course, but looks just like my spec:

So when does it arrive? Are you obsessively trackign it like a MINI? Where do I sign up for rides? :-)

yes, yes I am....

BMW owner's circle is just as frustrating as MINI... so I'm calling the computerized chick everyday for updates

... it will probably be very March before I get my grubby little hands on it lol :impatient

Fascinating--twin turbo?

Thanks for the post. I had no idea BMW would offer a twin turbo engine. Makes me wonder what BMW will have to offer in its M3. Just amazing.

When I was in Los Angeles last week the car rental company gave me a Mustang convertible instead of the Chevy Aveo I reserved. Glad I got the extra insurance coverage because I could not judge the length of the bonnet and nor could I see out the rear window. So I smote several solid objects parking in both directions. I am sure the BMW is superior in that department.

Happy motoring.

My smote button is located adjacent to the DSC off button - highly helpful in avoiding SUVs and MINIvans.

Great looking car. Should be an insane drive too.

btw, that commercial is total bs...no way can a gt500 mustang pull easily on a Carrera GT (even if it is a straight line)

GT500 is in the same league with the M5s.. (e60)
GT500 being a bit faster tho.

So GT500 vs. CGT....? You figure.

Regardless of scrubs :p, I'm glad you weren't unduly tortured with an Aveo -! You probably had a 6cyl Mustang, but with the 8cyl GT the back end is always beating you to the stoplight :scary:

I was gonna trade my 3 in for a 335. But, I only paid $28K for my car new. Throw in Rennsport's Stage 4 crate motor and BAM! I have a 500HP 3-series for $42K. Anyways, I'm off on my tangent. You will definitely like the 335. I loved driving it. Although, the mods are very expensive at the moment. Through ECU tuning there have been a few putting down an extra 60 HP. Be wary though...there has been a few documented cases of engine failures already. We will see how the newly designed system holds up.

You have to take him with a grain of salt... he's mostly entertainment, and he always picks on BMW, it's a running joke :impatient

Congratulations! Very similar spec- are you getting manual or auto? I'm planning on getting the windows tinted first thing upon arrival, but I think that's gonna be it in the mods dept.

Congrats, and good choice.

Also my next car, but I'm leaning toward black.

I just saw a black 328i coupe while out at lunch... it's only the 2nd 3 series coupe I've seen on the road (or in this case parking lot)

It looked nice- black has it's thing, but no more of it for me, wayyyy too much hassle to keep clean. I washed the Mustang nearly twice a week trying to keep it looking good. In contrast, my PW MCSc hardly shows dirt.

I don't care much for BMW's Alpine White, (to me it looks like an appliance color) so Titanium Silver seemed like the best color that would be easy to keep clean

I ordered the day after Thanksgiving, and the earliest slot available for production was the 4th week in Jan. It takes 3-5 weeks to travel to the dealer from Bremerhaven, and that's into March... so 12 weeks?

I drove a black 335i with SMG transmission for two days and it´s one of the best cars I have ever driven. It has virtualy no turbo lag and it takes off like a combat jet at any point. The handling is also superb. congrats am sure you will enjoy it.
