2008 VW GTI (Mark VI)
2008 VW GTI (Mark VI)
Current Mark V VW Jetta/Golf/Rabbit will be replaced early in their product cycle by the '08 Mark VI platform. The current Mark V platform is too expensive to manufacture and the car has generally been considered a market flop since its debut in the European market in 2003.
Next gen Mark VI will have multilink rear suspension (a la MINI), less weight and generally a more pleasing design, distancing itself from the Toyota Corolla looks that plague the current version.

Truth hurts doesn't it?
VW has admitted the Mark V is expensive to make and not up to snuff with the competition.
VW fans should be looking forward to an even better MKVI platform with rear multilink suspension.
But hey, what dol I know?

Wazzup with the "multilink suspension"? Do you know anything about the suspension at all? GTI called independent suspension, but it's the same deal.
CIVIC and CRX don't even have "multilink suspension" and you can't even catch up with them on the track. Actually, MKV GTI and CRX has similar rear suspension it's called passive rear steering. It has been use on the fast FWD cars effectively for years. The passive rear steering is exceptionally strong, making them extremely nimble giving a passive rear steering effect. That's why a GTI MKV is faster than a MCS Works around the track. The truth hurts doesn't it?...hahaha
Truth is here!
I don't think "platform is too expensive to manufacture" is anything to be concerned as a consumer. It's even better for the buyer when they get a better car for cheaper price. As far as I know is I paid less than what I paid for my MCS and I got a better car. It's faster. It has more torque. It has bigger trunk...and I got a DSG...and the list goes on.
2008 is too far ahead who knows what you're going to be driving...may be an electric car by then.

. Will be neat to see how the german engineers interperate that set-up.
