I'd say that after all my travels through Texas that all of it is a speed trap, as is all of Virginia!

I grew up in Austin. I am glad to see it on the list but there is a little town just north of San Antonio that used to make Austin seem like Atlanta when it comes to speed traps. Guess they cut that out.

Oh and for those of you that dont know. In Atlanta there really is very little speed limit enforcement. You go the same speed or a little faster then everyone else. Which means 70 to 80 in a 55 or 50 to 60 in a 45.... Not condoning it but those are the facts.

I don't know how Washington DC is a speed trap city - unless you count all the red light and speed radar cameras - I've never seen DC police setting up bubba style speed traps and pulling people over.

It has to be the speed radar cameras.

I have the tickets to prove that Detroit suburbs are bad. I grew up there driving a souped up Z28 which was great for Woodward Ave but bad for the driving record!

The little town is Selma, TX. I was stationed at Randolph AFB in the late 60s and Selma had a Police cruiser that was a 442 Olds with a bubblegum machine on the roof. They patrolled about 2 miles of I-35 and would get you for 2 over, haul you to their little court house and collect the fine, RIGHT NOW.

OOps, I've heard this could happen, I have never broken the speed limit or condoned speeding in any way shape or form and all that PC stuff that keeps us safe fropm each other.

You are right......I live in Atlanta and can say that "keeping up" with everyone else doing 70-80 is the norm...... just don't stand out and do something stupid.....stay with the flow..... the police do write tickets..... I see it everyday and there are areas that "speed traps" are set up regularly.....

The entire state of Oregon in a speed trap, this is probably how they compensate for having no sales tax.

I just finished with a very long road trip. First leg, a few weeks ago, was from Austin to Florida. Then, from Florida to Chicago. My final leg, which I finished today, was from Chicago back to Austin. I'd have to say I saw the MOST speedtraps in Chicago, specfically on I-57 . I did not see a single cop while I was driving through Texas though, which suprised me a bit.

Alot of that has to do with timing I've done I-57 on the FL to chicago trip a few times without any traps and only a few travelers. But I will say I got the same mount of alert of my radar detector in two days in the Chicago subirbs as I'd get in 2 weeks in Daytona. Orlando is on that list no doubt due to their overzealous (and in my opinion fradulent and unprofessional) year round motorcycle unit that prides it self on high quantity of citations used.
