The Most Blinging Wheels

This has been my favorite example of a car with big blinging wheels for about a year. Until today! Usually I see these kind of way oversized chrome wheels on full sized SUVs. That is so common that it only causes a gag or two and a reflex to cover the eyes to avoid the glare. It was a surprise to see way big ghetto rims on an otherwise nicely kept up ride. Notice how they just take over like a large medallion worn around the neck. Kind of hard to see the car. Anyway wondering if anyone else has seen this kind of overstatement. My new favorite from today is next.

And here is it. A Jaguar XK8 with the biggest blinging wheels I have seen. It takes a special eye to come up with a look like this. A unique mix of English elegance and Ghetto Fab. Just wondering where this all started. Perhaps it is one of those mysteries of style like the codpiece and the cummerbund.

I work off a main street and I see a few later 70 early 80"s (old school) cars with 24in wheels. Some are so high they put runnung boads just for the look. Not my style but impressed that they got wheels that big on a car.

I think the wheels on the Jag are horrible, but I usually like blingin rims on cars that you wouldnt normally expect them on. I have always liked styles being jumbled together wierd ways. Less cookie cutter, more individual.

I missed a picture of the most Ghetto car I have seen. A Ford Granada with 20" wheels. Nondescript car with totally overstated wheels. Talk about jumbled styles. Individual is one thing. Desparate attempts at attention are another.

I kind of like the desparate attempts at attention too. Doesnt anyone else appreciate the humor? I love it.

Okay that one is kind of funny. I mean it isn't like a Kia with 22" wheels. That guy had a concept in mind.

OK, it's probably the geek in me, but I think those are kinda cool (although they'd never touch my car). Lot's of engineering in there to deal with the rotational speed of the wheel and the visual perception of moving lights... yup... I'm a geek.

Haha! That was shot in the Chili's parking lot on the Mary Esther Cut-off near Jonquil in Nov. 2004. So it's a bit dated...

I think they're cool when the entire car has gotten attention/customization, I don't necessarily love them but at least that's a custom ride. I do NOT like when they just take a crappy $1200 used Buick or Crown Vic and put 24's on it.

Holly crap, kidicarus I've seen that Caddy before! I was on a business trip in Orlando and saw it driving down International Drive. There were lots of other blinged out cars there too, but that one definitely stuck out the most!
