Being tempted by the evil Audi TT devil...

... while I struggle through waiting and putting together my finances, my old friend - the used Audi TT Quattro - has come back to haunt me in the form of my good, but turbo-obsessed , friend.

Anyway, the sub-$20k price point, sleek looks, slightly faster car is nipping at my conscience - why does it drive me crazy?

somebody please knock some sense into me!

Awesome... thanks for the jolt of mini cooper goodness in the veins

The only reason why I even consider it is for the following reasons:

1) after haggling, an '02 TT Quattro would be about $7k cheaper than my new MINI
2) it's a bit faster and much cheaper to mod for power
3) I could drive the TT for the next 2 years and then jump into an '08 MCS Turbo..

anyway.. i'd make an *** of myself to all my mini friends.. but it does sound tempting...

Ron, there have been a few TT owners who switched to the MINI... Don't be so unsure.....get your MINI and enjoy the heck out of it!

it's that OH **** I HAVE TO ACTUALLY SIGN THAT BIG HUGE CHECK! moment that's coming up next week that's playing all kinds of havoc with my nerves.

I've been a car nut all my life and this is my first non-boring-non-american car... and a big investment for me. Just want to get it right

Picture passing a TT on the inside on your favorite offramp... your favorite twistie...that goofy speedo in the center of the dash reading 60 mph as you rocket through a kink...

I personally love the way my MINI drives so much more than the TT. They are very nice looking cars though (but so is the MINI of course) but there is a black one down the street from me that has a wide red viper stripe down the middle, and both hubby and I just stare at it whenever it drives by. Its beautiful

Well I slept on the whole crazy idea and feel much better this morning.

It's not so much that I like the TT better, I just like it about the same. A little more "cool-guy" sports car appeal and a little more straight-line speed, but I would agree with the statements regarding how fun it is to drive (MINI = more fun around corners). I like the MINI just as much, if not more.

What I realized is that it's the price difference that's getting to me - $7k less money to spend.. a loan that'll get paid off sooner.. a car that costs $500 to mod for HP instead of $1000.. etc. But then again, it will have *no* warranty, will depreciate like a sinking rock (of course, not any worse than the first 6 months for the new MINI) and hasn't been customized to my exact taste and waiting for me to pick it up in Chicago
