This is one of my all time favorites. If you're a bird lover, be forwarned that this clip isn't for you, but if you wish you had a security device for your MINI to ward off birds, watch this.

I don't remember where I got it from.

Oh yeah, I got it from my buddy RECOOP.

To me nothing has come close to heralding in the new era of performance than VW's "Kleiner GTI" back when it was introduced to the U.S. market in 1983. After 10 years of emasculated, emmissions strangled cars, to finally have something fun to drive with decent performance was such a welcome relief.

No one's mentioned Honda's "Cog" commercial?
http://multimedia.honda-eu.com/accord/

OK, so it's for Honda, but the commercial is something!

The Daily Record reports here that it was all for real:

I don't remember what it was for but

it shows a Lamborgini and show 0-100 in 4 sec( or whatever it was) Then it shows a beat up old vw bug 0-100 with less time than the Lambo. The camera pulls back and they push it out of a plane.

ok, here's one i just saw ...

a farmer plows under part of his cornfield (ala "Field of Dreams") and paves a racetrack in the middle of his crop

he walks over to the barn on the edge of the field and opens the door exposing the nose of a new Mustang, which he starts up and drives to the Start Line he just painted on the new track

farmer gets out of the car and turns to see Steve McQueen walk out from between the corn stalks; farmer gives the keys to Steve who proceeds to do a hotlap 'round the track ...

... can't remember last time i got misty over a ford comercial ...

Wow, that's an awesome-sounding commercial! It usually unnerves me, though, to see the dead resurrected in them. Kinda like when Fred Astaire's widow let them use clips of Fred dancing for a vacuum cleaner ad!

But, I gotta admit that seeing Steve McQueen in a Mustang ad is quite a coup for Ford. I give them a big thumb's up!

I think my all-time favorite is the one for the Nissan 300ZX, where G.I Joe goes to pick up Barbie in an R/C 300ZX, leaving a despondent Ken behind, with Van Halen's version of "You Really Got Me" playing in the background. Good stuff!

Great commercial, made for the summer olympics. But the safety ***** made GM pull it due to its "underage" driver. Hey what the hell is a boy anyways, a younger version of the man who will eventually buy the 'vette anyway. So another great ad campaign bites the dust.

Much as I hate SUVs in general and Hummers in particular, I loved the commercial where the kid builds a soapbox derby car that looks like an H2 and then takes off across the boonies to win the race, with "Happy Jack" for a soundtrack. Brilliant!

My favorite MINI commercials (in order) are the amusement park ride, the "guess the car" gameshow, and "size is deceptive" (aka, "my money's on the little guy").

The first ad that popped into my mind when I saw this thread was the "pink moon" VW cabrio ad. And the cornfield ad for the new Mustang - omigod - I don't think a car ad has ever brought tears to my eyes before that one!

I really liked the new Corvette commercial set to "Jumping Jack Flash" but GM pulled it after everyone complained that it endorsed underage driving.

My all time favorite is an old Triumph commercial for the home market where an elderly lady is being desuaded from purchasing a TR-6 as being totalling inappropriate for her. After she tells the salesman that it's for her nephew, the saleman breathes a sigh of relief until he looks out the window and notices that her nephew is even older than she is.

A similarly funny Triumph ad deals with a car chase between a Dolomite and Stag when the Stag owner catches the would-be test driver with his wife; he jumps out the window and all mayhem breaks out.

My favorite car commercial off all-time has got to be the old Nissan 300ZX ad, where the G.I. Joe action figure jumps into the R.C. 300ZX and goes to pick up Barbie, all the while Van Halen's "Your Really Got Me" is playing in the background. Such a great commercial...

For those of you who don't remember it...

I think that by far, Volkswagen has the best commercials on TV. My two all time favorites are the New Beetle "Squares" commerical, and the New Beetle Convertible introduction commercial where the guy is going about his day at the office to the beat of a catchy song (forget which one) and he looks out the window, and you just see the top of the car fold down, but not the car itself...then it says across the screen, "it's here." Maybe i'm a sucker, but I think that commerical rocks!

Does MINI have ANY commercials? I don't think I have ever seen one.

I just saw a Nissan minivan commercial showing off all the storage space in the van; all of which I had seen fit into a MINI...

Looking for a MINI commercial

I found this thread in trying to locate a copy of an old MINI commercial from a year or so ago. It is my favorite. It is the one where the guy goes through life from the baby buggy top going down in the beginning to him smiling in his casket at the end of the commercial. I thought this was the best commercial. Life is short. Make the best of it.

If ANYONE out there has a copy of this one or any other MINI commercial, I'd like to get a copy of it. I understand the MINI dealers had video tapes of these commercials for use in their dealerships. I have capabilities to convert the VHS to DVD and would like to borrow the tapes for a few days and will GLADLY return them to you with the original tapes and a DVD copy for yourself for easy play and safe keeping. Just send me a message and we'll work out the details. Thanks!

I kind of like the Toyota Yaris commercials that they play in movie theatres before the movie starts. The one where one Yaris squirts another Yaris with water, which leads the two to chase each other around the screen. It is actually quite entertaining!

There was a Triumph Spitfire commercial in the 70's I loved. All these clips of cars crashing into a barrier, touting the new bumper regs, and it shows a Spit heading towards a brick wall. At the last second, the Spit swerves around the wall, and this British accented voice says "... however we at Trumph, endeavor to MISS such obstacles."

An MG commercial I liked from 1973 showed a guy looking out the rear door of a C-130, to a line of cars racing across the desert: Spitifre, X1/9, Fiat 2000, TR6... then he ducks back in, and pushes an MGB out the back on a pallet. Both parachute to a landing. He gets in the MGB, and drives off, and the caption goes: MG, Still one jump ahead. First time they shot the commercial, the parachute on the MGB didn't open, and from 9000 feet, *SPLAT* upside down on the desert floor. Now an expensive coffee table.

You can find Mini commercials on YouTube and Google. My fav is the guy racing around San Francisco in the Yellow Mini. He stops at a light to open a soda. KABLAMM. The Mini's glass is foamed over everywhere inside.
