Enzo ripped in half.

I can't believe no one was killed. The passenger walked away and the driver ran away (from the scene, that is).

That article says the cops think the "passenger" is really the driver. So, for the sake of argument, let's assume they really are the same person. WHOSE CAR IS IT??? :-)

Just money, but seriously this is why the rest of us get screwed out of having a US autobahn

poor Enzo, what a waste, amazing how strong it has been engineered, like a F1 car, even it splits in half the passenger cabin stays one piece and clean. Yeah, we gotta have Autobahns, and a lot of education on "ow to drive on high speeds".

Nevermind the autobahn; who wants to go in on a Nürburgring clone with me?

Go to the LA Times home page, there's some good video of the aftermath ...

I heard about this on the local L.A. news radio station and was pretty surprised at the 120 mph speed quote! That is just STUPID.

I've been thinking about this. How much do you reckon it would cost to build a track?

What a shame. The paradox is that there is really no use for these types of cars on the roads in the US - aside from the joy of owning such fantastic vehicles it must be frustrating to have to keep them down if all you do is drive on the streets. I wouldn't mind trying tho

Is that all he got for a million bucks? I could have my own parking lot full of MINIs: one for each day of the week, holidays, special ocassions and so on...if I'm going to have THAT much money, I think I would really want to enjoy it. Mick

No idea. I was talking with my co-worker about this today. Man, I *really* wish I hadn't forgotten to buy powerball tickets this weekend.

How much land do you think the Nürburgring take up, in terms of acres? My dad owns about 60 in Upstate NY, and I'm pretty sure there aren't any zoning laws there. It'd **** off the neighbors, but I think I could live with that. :-)

If I had a million dollars (cue BNL...) I think I'd buy a plot of land and a big *** bulldozer. I could clear the course with the bulldozer and have a rally course for a little while. Then I could pave it. :-)

The killer for a Nürburgring-like track in the US would be liability. Maybe I'll just take my million dollars and move to das Fatherland?

Hey, I am VERY familiar with where he wrecked, and of course a Ferrari can go faster. But why on a public road with too many unsafe variables, and why endanger the public? I hope they throw his butt in jail. I don't care how rich he is....what a jerk to drive a public highway that fast!

I'm working on a feasibility study for a "country club" track here in San Diego. From my friends that race a lot at different tracks and travel a bunch say you need about 300-400 acres. That would give you two tracks to work with and different levels of speed and advanced driver options. There are a few in the US now that have various amenities. It’s a great idea, but for us San Diegans its tough having to drive 3 hours one-way for some track time. Plus, Qualcom stadium is going away someday soon so the Porsche club and SCCA are going to lose that crummy small venue as well. I might as well buy a dune buggy like all my friends and go to the desert.
