That's gotta hurt... (enzo crash in malibu)
Hrm, this is getting "kinda" OT... :-)
I did a 2-day Phil Wicks school at Autobahn last July. Fantastic experience and a beautiful facility. 25 (?) large to join and another 3-5 grand per year in dues. I'd think for fifty thousand you could buy a few hundred acres in some back-water part of the country!

Saw this on wreckedexotics.com - a composite of several images to show the overall accident scene. The engine is about 360 feet away from the telephone pole, and the front of the car is another 200 feet further down the road.

Who're you kidding, Kurt? This is America. The guy's got *two* Enzos. He's a spoiled, rich, idiot. He'll get off scott free! :-)
That, plus nobody got hurt, there was minimal property damage, and he wasn't *that* drunk. I just don't think there's that much to penalize him for, and people get stars in Hollywood for spectacular crashes like this one. Now, if the Enzo was kinda-sorta stolen, then he might be in hot water, but that's not much to do with the crash.

Ferrari Enzo cut in two
MINIclo told me about this when it happened and the story was more than weird, but wait there’s more…

You're a bit late to the crash gawking!

This is a good example of not titleling a post properly.

True that it was posted, but the last post in that thread was 2/23. If you click on the link above it will give you more of the story that is unfolding around the crash. And it's not closed yet.
I just wish people would think about an accurate title when starting a thread, makes it difficult to search. For example: "that's gotta hurt" tells us nothing, it could have been a new mom delivering quadruplets in a MINI for all I know!
Really interesting stuff on the updates. Guy sounds like a total whack...oh, wait, he's rich, so I guess that makes him "eccentric".
Anxiously awaiting more info on how a paratransit company qualifies for it's own police dept. With counter-terrorism unit, no less.
Think this guy might be a flight risk?

just bumping....
I find the fascination about this wreck interesting.
AutoWeek March 27, '06, BWTM: "A BWTM reader took almost no time to capitalize on the now-infamous Enzo crash. He plans to sell the shirts for $15. Think Stefan Eriksson, the car's owner, regrets his "Dietrich did it" story?" [graphic of front half on tow truck]
AutoWeek April 10, '06 BWTM: More bad news, Stefan Stefan Ericksson is under investigation after writing off his Enzo. Now he has lost his McLaren-Mercedes SLR. Beverly Hills cops stopped Eriksson's wife after noting the SLR's European plate, and confiscated the car when Scotland Yard informed them it might be stolen or the property of an unidententified financial company. Dietrich was not present at the scene."
*wipes tear*

I'll vote for honorable mentions in the 2006 Darwin Awards for our dearly loved "Dietrich" and his drunken assistant Stefan Ericksson.
Just because you can afford to own (or steal) a Ferrari, doesn't mean that you can drive one.
This story is like fine whiskey, it improves with age.
