HUMMER and MINI in the same household?

My father turned 50 this year. He is currently downstairs reading the brochure for a 2006 HUMMER. Does anyone else have both? Does anyone have suggestions? Feel free to express true feelings ::GULP::

Funny part is that both companies capitalize their names...as that may be the only thing they have in common.

Another thing in common, they are both extremes. Real big and real small. I am a person of extremes. I love big trucks and little cars. I had a 5 ft longboard, yet I have 3, 3-pound chihuahuas. I have always wanted the biggest and the smallest of anything available. Adds character I guess. I wish I still had it, but I once saw a picture of a MINI parked on top of a HUMMER.

That was actually in NYC for a MINI advertisement...it was really cool....

WE did like the Toyota FJ but we need to TOW.....7000lbs worth of towing is perfect.....do you know what the FJ can tow?

Hummer... as in H2? Please, NO... not another road-hog, gas-guzzlin ******-mobile
A REAL Hummer... sure it'd be overkill & guzzel gas, but at least it'd be a Hummer.

I can't help it... I REALLY dislike the H2 because I know its just a Chevy Subburban in Muscle-man drag.

The Subburban might not be much on style, but its functional... more than the H2. H2 is all about the bling & pose'n... but it's not even a real Posuer vehical... like a fake diamond or worse yet pectoral implants... you know the truth. The question is can you live with it?

Now c'mon minimc... tell us what you really think

Tell your father that if he REALLY wants to compensate that he's looking at the wrong brochure!

Here -> http://www.internationaldelivers.com...mily/index.asp

Of course, if he does get the Hummer, at least you'll have the perfect bumper sticker for your MINI:

Here's hoping the apple really does fall far from the tree!

Fj

FJ tow rating is only 5000lbs not enough....

the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 both each tow 9100

and the hummer H2 is 7000

Anything else?

That's kinda funny. I live less than a mile from both Hummer plants (seperet facility 100ft west of the H2 plant for military and H1 production). H1s, those are sick, many of the people that we know have them (they work for Hummer). They ride worse than my MCS, as my dad likes to say "You could drive over a quarter and tell if it's heads or tails, in those things." But they're cool, they take up almost all the space in one lane, and have two gas tanks. After all someone could shoot a hole in the first one.

The H2 sucks. There was a guy who thought he was all masculine at the gas station in May who said "You better not park your little go-kart by my truck (an H2), it might eat it for lunch." Him and his buddy were laughing. I replied "I bet that's not the only thing it absolutely guzzles." They shut up pretty quickly. Now after a huge gas hike, who's laughing? No H2s are nothing like a "real" hummer. Only an attempt to make an H1 "semi-affordable." As one of our friends told me. They've taken away almost everything that makes a Hummer a Hummer except that it still chugs gas like none other.

I like the idea of the International CXT. If you are going big, go BIG. Be the first on your block to be able to fit every one on the block in your truck.

Price of gas is not an issue. If it was, we would not be looking at the Hummer. We enjoy unique cars. Hence 1954 Jaguar, 1961 Jaguar, 2004 Mini Cooper MC40, 2002 BMW 330CIC Conv/Hardtop, 1980 MGB LE

So if someone has a real suggestion as to a unique SUV that will tow more than 6k lbs....let me know.....

I would not buy the car because it looks like or is like an H1, I would buy it because it is like and looks like an H2.

I'm not sure if it can tow 6K lbs, but my parents have a Nissan Armada used for towing a 4place enclosed snowmobile trailer. I babysit the car for them while they are in China and I LOVE it.

The H2 has almost NO room to haul stuff. They have two rows of seats and then a seat all the way in the back. His best bet would be a BMW X5, the redesigned Explorer. If he needs space, than these both provide room. Please present a acceptable price range, so I can some think up some other vehicles.

You've said already that gas prices aren't an issue, they are here, still in the neighborhood of 2.30 a gallon for Regular. Right now I WOULD STAY AWAY from a GM product though. They are on the brink of bankruptcy and there's no telling what might happen to them.

An H2 isn't a bad vehicle. It's all up to your father's taste though. I really don't see the point in it, but he might.

Ya can't have it all. You do get that BIG greenhouse with the H2, but what do you give up in return?

With the VW (aka Porsche Cayenne) you get a well engineered vehicle that's quite capable. ...Sure some of the light & space is lost, but function, performance, ride and safety is gained. If space & functionality were really that important you'd be looking at the Suburban

You can look at the new Durango. "It's got a Hemi!"
