Does BMW really stand for this?

I was down at the local BMW/MINI dealer getting my second oil change on the MINI. This guy comes out of the service dept (BMW owner with repair bill in hand) and with somewhat of a frown on his face.

As we pass he says to me he now knows what the letters BMW REALLY stands for? I said yeah what? He says... Bust My Wallet

Dealer service is generally between the outrageous and the obscene when it comes to BMW, and unfortunately our cute little MINIs are really BMWs in disguise. Therefore you have three choices 1) Bend Over and take it; 2) Find an independent mechanic to perform your needed maintenance at a discounted price; and 3) Do as much of your own maintenance as possible, relying on independent or dealer service as a last resort.

'Course you could always trade your car in when its warranty/service period was up, and get a new one.

Bust My Wallet

Broke My Wallet

Yeah, we get the idea.

Well the wife bought a 528I back in 98 and the car has about 85,000 miles on it. The car has been very dependable. I asked her just the other day if she was ready for a new BMW?

She said her car was just fine, and planned on keeping it a few more years. The bust my wallet does not seem to fit her car. Even at about $45,000 when new, its only been in the shop for regular oil changes and nothing major at all.
