Well Well..
I finally test drove the new 06 WRX.
I really love WRXs. I would have purchased one if I didn't get my mini..

Well
My quick thoughts on the new rex is..

1. Tranny STILL feels VERY crappy compare to a mini.
2. It does not 'feel' as fast as a MCS..
3. Interior isn't very nice either for a car priced at $26000+..
4. The new 2.5l engine doesn't impress me in its stock form.... :-/
5. I DO NOT Like the design of its new brake light

6. It indeed handles really well in twisties (expected)
7. Build quality seems very tight and well done
8. Ride quality is far more comfortable and quiter than my mini
9. BMW 5 look-a-like exterior looks far more aggressive than before


Hell, I would jump on it if I had the money and if I could keep my Mini

 

you did not drive the STi right? I would say regular WRX is so..so, but STi is a beast!

 

at the time, they did not have the STi test drive vehicle.. i would love to jump on that and push them beasts

 

An '06 STI is like $32K though. That's a lot of cash

 

Does it have that new Edsel-style Subaru front end?

 

Yes it does. Looks like they are destroying the line-up with it

 

It's not nearly as stupid looking on the WRX as it is on the Tribeca. I actually think it fits the car better than the two previous front ends the WRX has had.

Still an ugly car, imo.

Yup. 06s exterior is pretty well done IMO.. REALLY LIKE it..

And yeah, them classic bug eyes, getting one of them was my ultimate plan until i bought my mini

 

I'd love to buy a STi but until they make a 2 door coupe, I won't even look at it, too bad they didn't have that engine when there was a 2 door coupe Impreza.

 

Does this model and the Lancer Evo share any major parts, like body, fame, etc.? They seem so similar, or is that just because they're both based off a rally car?

 

Since they are built by different manufacturers they are rather quite
different although they share the same idea of using AWD, rally inspired
chassis and suspension designs and so on.
