yeh, I think Im going to start driving like a turtle again on the weekends.

They're projecting $4~$5 range on cnn money. which means about $4.50
for premium (?) dang it.

I was thinking about buying a FX35 later on this month, but
i don't think it's going to happen now. i think im going to
stick to something that eats regular gas.

i was thinking about getting a MC next year, but my wife's car got into
an accident last week (some lady hit her car) over $4400 in damage
and now she wants a bigger car because of the extent of the damage.
it was a low speed impact too... so I was thinking FX would be kinda
cool... but it's a 16/21mpg car so... :impatient :impatient

Ken, remember how safe MINIs are and how well they do in crashes. Look up all the threads here on NAM and show them to wifey. SUVs are not safer!

You don't buy a Mini Cooper S for the fuel economy.

You do however, buy a scooter for it. And when you can get a real motorcycle that surpasses the scooter in all areas for less money - that's stupid.

It's nice looking, but it's still just a carbed regular 2-stroke and doesn't begin to approach the fuel economy of a direct injected Aprilia.

anyway, for those that ride their bicycles through rush hour traffic,
follow the traffic laws, no j-crossing, watch and be considerate of
other traffic and stop riding your skinny wheel 12speed in the middle
of the god dang road!!!

and you dang joggers, stop jogging during rush hour traffic on 40mph+
4 lane roads dog gonnet!!! go run down your side streets and parks.

Oh heck, Ken....the California Highway Patrol motorcycle cops split lanes all the time! Otherwise, they'd never get down the road!

I let other bicyclists have it all the time when I see them do dumb crap. It gives all bikers a bad name, besides endangering themselves and angering drivers around them (i.e. drivers around me, too). I've pulled a U-turn on more than one occasion when driving just to catch up to a bicyclist and request that they pull their head out of their *** and have some respect and common sense.

Right. When biking I expect my legal rights on the road respected. But that also requires people on bikes to do the same. I too sometimes toss it at two wheelers who think they don't need to stop at signs and lights, can ride down the street the wrong way etc.

Yes, and even though we have equal right to be on most roads as cars, stay to the side. BUT there is a special place in hell for drivers who don't give room when passing. Worse are those who've actually thrown things at me. :impatient :impatient :impatient.

Well, after barely driving at all this month, I did a round trip from Boston to Burlington, VT this weekend for my sister's birthday. Roughly a 450-mile round trip. I tried to take it easy on the highway, not be in a hurry, and see what kind of mpg I could manage. For the entire trip, average speed was 66.8 mph, and average fuel economy (according to the computer) was 39.8 mpg.

With the Cooper, that is fairly common highway mileage. Tonight we are heading to Disney World (Orlando) in my wife's Cooper and enjoy the fuel savings.

U.S Gasoline Spike Fuels Surge in Bicycle Sales

The question is, are people buying power-efficient road bikes with high-pressure tires, or clunky mountain bikes with knobby tires that will never see dirt?

I am getting 350 mile range to a full tank of gas in my '05 MCS 6MT. That works out to an average of 29MPG in the city!!!!

I decided to buy a bicycle. Walking is just too slow.

There are so many kinds now. More choices than even a MINI's options list. But, except for wheels, much cheaper in every way. I hope to order a frame to match my MCSa's PW/B color combo.

Yep, I'm lovin my Segway more and more. I rode the Seg up to the gas station about four miles from my house to buy some milk and bread.

I had a real fun time gliding past all the vehicles at the pumps paying for the high dollar gas. I go in and buy the stuff, put it in my front bag, and gllde back home in the nice cool weather. Its clean and green 10 miles cost about 10 cents. A penny a mile makes ya smile:smile:

Aren't segways not street legal in most cities? same thing with those
electric Razor scooters. those have been banned from our county since
2004, I think. too many kids getting into accidents and annoyance to
drivers or something.

but ive ridden those (im a supplier for Delphi as well) Segways and are
pretty cool. very fast once you get good at it too.

Delphi was suppose to sell over 10k of those to NYPD before 911...
then the project was put on halt from what i heard.. i think they still
sell those in very small volumes. I know a few suppliers that do the
gyroscopes circuits for them.
