Poor Subaru! That nose is going to make it across their entire line in one form or another. . .much like Audi going to the big chrome horse-collar grille (which looks better in person than in photos, but I still don't like it)

I guess it helps establish 'brand identity' or something.

Oh, and thanks for the "Pacer=George Jetson" post - I can't get that stupid song out of my mind now. . .

yes it is a shame that Subie is going to put that on all their cars. A ton of my friends drive SVX's, RS's, and 2.5 GT's, and they are all kinda leary about the future of their provider. I for a while wanted an STi, but im glad i decided against it after this new one.

"Horse-Collar grille" that is great, I drive a VW now, and i love Audis, but for the longest time ive been thinking of a good comparison for their new grille, and thats it. Love the new audi's, hate the new Jettas.

My vote is for the B9, although the Aztek and Aveo get my runner up votes.

Warning...cover your eyes or have a good laugh!!! PBS's Motorweek is featuring the Subaru Tribeka this week. Can't wait to hear the narrator try to describe it's "unique styling"!!!

Good list. Here are a few you've missed:

Hyundai Tiburon - I actually feel like puking every time I see one of these (the original one - the current one is (just) okay)

Mercedes SUV - I don't know the name - it's the one that looks like a giant Scion - "Is that your new Mercedes, or the box it came in?"

Morgan Aero 8 - you've GOT to be kidding! Looks like a boob job gone bad:

I'm not sure about this, but I seem to recall that "beca" is Japanese for "ugly." Therefore, "Tribeca" could be a Greek-Japanese neologism:

"Tribeca" = "thrice beca" = "ugly ugly ugly"

Speaking of British Sports Cars, I once heard the Triumph TR-7 described as "a Fiero with mumps."

Oh, and speaking of BMWs (I agree - Most DIS-improved!), how about the Z3 Coupe?

And this was before Chris Bangle!

Okay - four posts in a row. I'm outta here!

Actually isn't that bad in the correct colors, like this blue. Try to imagine it in gold, similiar as the MINI, but the MINI looks good in gold/black.

wait.. i actually really like this one. I'm a real big fan of the time period when this style was in though so I might be a bit biased.

I like the "idea" of that Morgan more than the actual execution of it. I mean, look at those body gaps! And the juxtaposition of modern headlights and turn signals 'implanted' into those retro fenders: it's nothing but conflict! 'boob job gone bad' is the absolute perfect phrase for this! What's with that separation below and above the grill, the awkward transition from fender to front bumper, and the headlamps that look like lop-sided nipples on bruised and lumpy breasts! "B-squad stripper."

A better name for this would be the "Anna Nicole Smith."

Oh my...that new Morgan is sad!

I had a boyfriend, back in the day (the 70s), who, along with his dad, would take their Morgan apart and put it back together...for fun! And they'd be corresponding with Mr. Morgan throughout the process!!

Those Morgans were superb motoring machines.....ahhhhhh!

Yep, that car definitely suffered severe beatings with the ugly stick as it was being conceived! It does almost make the Subaru look palatable.

I think that's one of the reasons the Aero 8 bothers me so much - I love Morgans! A long time ago, I spent a while trying to figure out how I could afford a 4-seater (the earlier ones, before the streamlined grilles). And the three-wheelers! God how I love those!

Not only do I agree but think you should write for a car magazine. A very creative description.

A nice thing about the MINI is that they based it upon how it might have naturally evolved with technology. The Morgan design looks like they didn't respect the original when emplanting that silicone look.

Subaru what is up?

This name is just wrong!

Tribeca is the name of the neighborhood in lower Manhattan that was shown so often during the 9/11 news coverage. http://www.tribeca.org/

B9 is the name of the robot from "Lost in Space". They even have a builders club. http://www.b9robotbuildersclub.com/

Click here to hear what B9 has to say about this.

As mentioned in prior posts, the B9 Tribeca is the first vehicle to get Subaru's new corporate grille/face- the Impreza is next.

A pic was already posted above but it appears to be an older concept pic- here are official Subaru press pics that were released maybe a month or so ago:

http://www.subdriven.com/gallery/gal...Generation%204

...like it or not, Subaru enthusiasts have no choice but to get used to it.

As was also mentioned in another prior post in this thread, it's come courtesy of Subaru's new (lead?) designer who migrated from Alfa. I don't think that he necessarily needed to make the Subaru grille look so... Alfa-ish, but what do I know.

And I believe that the way it extends into the hood is mainly do to the updated pedestrian safety laws in Europe, which no doubt had an effect on the '07 Mini refreshing (but you guys probably know lots more about that than me).

And, as mentioned before, "Tribeca" is a trendy little town in NYC, which the truck/car/SUV/whatever was named after. There is another definition of "Tribeca" but I forget what that is at the moment

Anyways, hi everyone. I'm Jared. Live in PA. I'm kinda just lurking about, I'll be getting a MINI in a little under a year. Still have some saving to do. Plus want to wait to see how the new BMW turbo'd engine is.

Of course, I say that, but recently I've been reading more and more about the older Minis, and I had for years thought they were too expensive so I never even bothered attempting to own one, but now that I see how much they actually go for, I'm starting to really become tempted...

Oops, kinda hijacked the thread anyways be nice to the Tribeca, it can't help some designer is obsessed with upside-down triangles

Oh man I can't believe someone listed the BMW M Coupe as one of the ugliest cars! That saddens me

I mentioned that I am saving for a MINI- but the M Coupe is my wildcard- I absolutely adore the M Coupe. Either with the 240hp or the newer 300hp, I don't care- I love that car so much. I still have the postcard art promotionals that BMW sent out to people from when I was in high school.

I could totally blow money on buying one, but I just worry what might happen if I drop $25-30k on a car that doesn't have a warranty.

That, plus they seem to be appreciating in value- I need the prices to go DOWN, not up!

I finally saw a B9 Tribeca today! I was walking through a parking lot, and I got to check it out from all sides. It is every bit as ugly as it looks in photos, that's for sure! They really didn't get anything right when they designed this car. It has all kinds of bizarre awkward angles arguing with each other.

How about beautiful cars? I think the new Pontiac Solstice is a real looker. I also like the Audi TT coupe (much better looking than the bmw coupe, imo).

I'm real sick of SUVs and trucks in general. I hate it when the I'm going 15-20 MPH over the speed limit, and the chevy tahoe behind me has to get right on my bumper even though I'm passing the car to the left and can't move over yet. The Tahoe owner must be in a hurry to get to the gas station for another $50 fillup.

I like it! It's now so high off the ground no one can actually enter the vehicle. Therefore no one can drive it. Therefore it'll stay off the road.... because it certainly does not belong there. Actually, it could be a little higher just in case any Olympic high jumpers might want to take it for a spin.
