I didn't add it, that would be Tarzan (hmm, that sounds kinda funny

I thought the thread was about new/current cars so I didnt delve into history's ugly autos

Oh....I LOVE the Metropolitan!!! I've always loved it! When I was a little girl, friends of my parents had an aqua and white one, and about four of us little ones would sit in the "back seat" with the two moms up front, to go to the market! FUN!!

Yeah, that was the idea... what's the ugliest hunk of metal that people are actually walking into showrooms and plunking down their hard-earned cash for? The AMC Eagle has always offended my sensibilities, though.

That's awesome! I'm picturing the unveiling, accompanied by dramatic music, spotlights, a sparkly curtain drawing back, a drumroll... and then a chorus of spontaneous (and very audible) expressions of disgust. And then the B9's tire would blow out, or some smoke would start curling up from under the hood, or maybe it would backfire and knock everybody down.

Bless you for posting this.
I had my first in person sighting yesterday after work.
It was just in front of me in traffic...and I thought...BY GOD WHAT IS THAT MONSTROSITY?? When I passed it and saw the front in my rear view, I actually started screaming outloud and laughing hysterically (mind you...my windows were, in fact, down at the time).

This thing takes the cake.

What the HELL was Subaru thinking??

My guess was they were thinking people would like a vehicle that looked like an angry horny toad from the front (2nd time but I swear that's what I see whenever I glance at that photo) and John Candy's butt from behind.

BTW there's a band called The Nash Ramblers.

It's the new hotness, L. No word on whether or not a tent option is in the works.

How about the Daimler Boxfish concept car?:

This was on CBS news the other day.

Information can be found here. I had to go all the way to Australia for pictures and info.

Oh Greatbear, I saw that, too....that Boxfish really weirds me out!!! Glad it's only a concept...but even then it's a pity they bothered to build a prototype! Guess they were trying to guage consumer reaction.

Yikes, that is ugly! I don't know if the Boxfish moniker fits, though - the front end looks distinctly mammalian to me.

Yes, the "face" and body are kind of like a hedgehog. Everything's looking like some sort of animal to me today, even Greatbear.

I think the great showman P.T. Barnum summed it all up with his famous line; "There is a sucker born every minute"

A fart can expel from my anus at a speed that breaks the sound barrier...It doesn't mean I want to drive one!

The B9 is pretty funky looking, but I still don't think it's even in the same league of ugliness as the ***-yech, er, I mean Aztek. . .quite possibly the ugliest car of all time, even worse than the Pacer, Mustang II, and other monstrosities from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

I still think Pontiac would have sold more ***-yechs if the sillyass tent option covered the WHOLE car. . .

I have a VehiCross....beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It still gets more positive comments than negative . Most people have never seen one and it outperforms jeep rubicons offroad.

At least the B9 is only ugly from the front, from the side and rear it's not bad, a little Alfa Romeo (same designer, just moved to Subaru not too long ago). The Aztec was totally ugly, from every angle. And it's not off of the Trailblazer platform (the sacrilage of the Saab 9^7 is that) but instead the B9 is off of an enlarged legacy platform.

We'll see how sales go....that new nose is not a good thing. I think the current Legacy and Impreza are nicely designed and perform well. Poor B9....
