my new evo
First of all I like all mini's they are great cars. I traded my '05 cooper s for an '05 lancer evolution and couldn't be happier. The mini is a great little car, an excellent value for the money, great looking and real fun to drive. The evo is another beast altogether. I have owned the evo for 4 months, and this thing is awesome, as close to a road going race car I have owned. I have owned corvettes, 911's, a roush mustang and a RX7. The evo kicks a... The Recaro seats are excellent, the best seats in a stock factory car I have owned. This car is fast, turbo kicks in around 2500 rpm, and its seriously fast.
The handling is also a step above the mini s, and the steering, very, very fast and responsive, almost telepathic. 276 hp, aluminium roof and fenders, carbon fiber rear wing, 4 wheel drive, momo steering wheel, Recaro seats, Enkei wheels with sticky Yokohama tires, for $30K, whats not to like. As you guys can tell, I really like the car, what fun to drive. I still like mini's, they are fantastic cars, I just wanted more performance without mod'ng the mini to death. I know the mini looks better, no doubt it does. Both the mini and the evo are great cars. I'm looking forward to the '06 cooper s and the lancer evolution 9 which is due in september. Road and Track "Speed" issue just tested the evo 9 MR at 4.4 seconds 0-60, and 13.0 second quarter mile, .92 g's. wow.
Oh yeh, the evo got plenty of character, just drive one

. This should not be amazing! Overall, my MINI is a fanastically fun vehicle that is a joy to throw through the twisties and auto-x courses, but our EVO is a monster. For very little money, its pushing 350hp at the wheels and we have not had any issues with it and it will kill anything else on the road. With 2 very good and comparable drivers, the EVO was leaving my poor Bruno in the dust on a twisty road near our house. If you can manage to keep it in it's power band through turns, I hate to say it, but there's no beating it. Of course I prefer the entire package of my car with the mixture of style, handling, and power, but the EVO was not made for looks, it was made for the other 2 parts which affords alot of benefits at it's cost point
I have both MCS and EVO. Stock to stock, I prefer the driving dynamic of the EVO. The car seems to communicate better at the limit, the brakes also feel tighter.
The MCS has better built quality and styling though.

A lot of HP alone just doesn't cut it for me. It needs more. Much more. The EVO is maybe the ugliest (or at least top 10) car on the planet. I don't care if they put 500hp for $20k, I wouldn't touch it. I really have ZERO interest in a car like that. I must admit, I am very picky.
I just bought a SECOND car myself. Really for myself as they are both stick and my wife can't drive stick. I got an 05 Mustang GT convertible. IMO probably the most beautiful car in existence. Add to that the Mustang-Musclecar heritage AND...300hp and better yet...320lbs of torque. A perfect complement to my MCS. My Mustang is my good weather, top down summer car. I now own my two favorite cars in the world. I'm a happy camper. I will post a review soon...

The throttle response from 1k RPMs on is phenomenal.

a little scary during the decent.
Yes, the 2005 Mustang is a great return to the classic look of the 1969-1970 mustang. Ford did a great job with this car, its a muscle car- lots of power, great exhaust burble, and head turning looks. With $3,000-$4,000 in suspension and braking mod's, maybe, maybe it can compete with an evo on a road course. If you want a true performance mustang look to Saleen and Roush- now there is a truly complete package, looks, handling, power and style all for $40,000-$55,000. Funny, the evo only cost $30,000.

I have a video of a "Top Gear" review of an evo and well. He makes a joke because be does a drift using 1 finger... like "Watch this 1 finger" and the car drifts perfectly. It basically corrects itself.

Perfectly in control until a wheel digs into the dirt...
