I thought Maybach was a major money loser. Did anybody buy the first one? I can only imagine the price. I think these cars are going to go the way of the mid-80s Aston Martin Lagonda. Expensive daring and fast but not enough market to maintain viability.
The Exelero concept car celebrated its world premiere on May 11, 2005 at the "Tempodrom" in Berlin. The 700-horsepower two-seater with V12 twin-turbo engine is a one-off production commissioned by Fulda Tyres. Fulda is using this Maybach as a reference vehicle to test a new generation of wide tyres. The German luxury car manufacturer created the one-off model as a modern interpretation of its legendary streamlined car of the 1930s. There are various allusions to the historical predecessor, which was likewise based on a powerful Maybach automobile, in this case the SW 38, and was used by Fulda for tyre testing.
The Exelero embodies the highest expression to date of the Maybach strategy of offering customisation and one-off solutions based on customers' individual specifications. In initial tests on the high-speed track in Nardo, Italy, the one-off model achieved a top speed of 351.45 km/h (FIA* standardised measurement). The Maybach manufacturing facility teamed up with students from the design, engineering and business university Fachhochschule Pforzheim, Germany, on the development of this model, which was built by Turin-based Italian prototype builder Stola. There are no plans for volume production of this vehicle.

AutoWeek August 1 article does not mention price. If I can find the Sports Car International issue featuring it, I'll look. Seems like $1 million is reasonable, considering it runs, fast.
For some reason, I think of the streamliner locomotives from the 50s. The Norelco grill looks like a cow catcher. Otherwise, I think they have done a super job on the Batman/Darth Vader theme.
