Speed Channel WT oops

I have hit speed channel at least 20 times in the last week and have not once seen anything other than NASCAR. Damn man as soon as they have the Daytona 500 it turns into the NASCAR channel. What about enduro, DTM, Ralley, SCCA,even vintage for crying out loud. Ok im done i feel better.

Yeah, I know. They must have fifteen shows that consist of people sitting around talking about NASCAR stuff. Then there's the many races themselves, repeats of the races, races from past years, qualifying, "happy hour", NASCAR Tech (what's that?), NASCAR collectible shows... . Bleh! I miss the (short) NASCAR off-season. I share your pain.

That said, Speed still shows a lot of great stuff and I'm glad they're around. I'm happy to see that at least some of the Champ Car races will be back on Speed this year, and they show all of the WRC events, vintage stuff like Goodwood and Monterey, Barrett-Jackson auctions, Formula 1 (which starts very soon!), F3000, some SCCA stuff (the Runoffs, Speed World Challenge), ALMS, Wind Tunnel, etc. I'm old enough to remember when auto racing on TV consisted of a few minutes on "Wide World of Sports", interspersed with a lumberjacking competition.

Would love to chat more but NASCAR today is on. I even watch NASCAR from time to time but this coverage is ridiculas. I did catch a little arena cross today and that was the first thing i have seen not NASCAR related in over 2 weeks.

Yea, Speedvision was ****, anybody remember "The Lost Drive-In" hosted by Bruce Dern? Shades of Vanishing Point, Two-Lane Blacktop and Easy Rider in my head. WRC, F1, Deutsche Touring Car, F3000, Macau Grand Prix, basically all the good sh*t we used to love to see, gone. Death by Fox's NASCARization of our eclectic world of Eurovision's motorsport leads. Oh the humanity!

sniff, sniff

Speedvision was a great channel and I miss all those programs that MGCMAN mentioned. Even some of the more corny lost drive-in movies. Speedvision is what got me started with WRC as I always had the channel tuned in while working on the computer. I watched Speedchannel a few times the first month and haven't gone back to it since. I really don't understand why NASCAR couldn't get their own channel and leave Speedvision alone.

Agreed all. I don't like Nascar at all -- give me the curves! But there is still Spike TV with the 2-hours of Powerblock on Saturdays and repeated again on Sundays, with host Danica Patrick. She races in the Indy League now you know -- last year she was in the Toyota Atlantic series. Can't wait to watch her races. Hopefully, she'll get to the Indy 500. Then, there's the weekly Overhaulin show on TLC, probably my fav. Also, is the Boyd Coddington hot rod show. Just luv those rods. Too many commercials on these shows though. I would like to see more coverage of racing though.

news flash 11:55 PST speed channel check in. I turn on the tv and the first things i hear are " the Zeeero Karrrr " and I knew what was on. NASCAR 2004 revisited. Oh goody I like all kinds of racing and I am even planning on going to my first NASCAR event this sunday at Fontana but this coverage is way over the top. Oh have to go now its 12:01 and they are going to rerun AGAIN the
500 from last weekend. Can't miss this LOL.-
