Damn fast WRX
Damn fast WRX
Last week I pulled up behind a blue 04 WRX going East on the Dumbarton Bridge in Palo Alto for those of you that know the long stretch before the incline. Nothing special no wing....just lowered w/rims and exhaust. One thing I did notice a front mounted intercooler. I figured this this car might be quick but I didnt know how quick.
Yes, i know how fast a stock WRX is out of the box but their top end is not that great. I could see that he was looking at me from his rear view mirror.....then just before the light turned green he rev'd the engine. The light turned green and we took off.....for a split second we were matched.....then BAM!! He started pulling away.......I wasn't paying attention to the speedometer just shifting at redline in each gear........he kept on getting further and further away..........once into 5th I was at 115 and he was still pulling away as if I was standing still
...I just let up at this point.....as I saw the car in the distance.

Your signature image violates the Site Guidelines in at least a couple areas. Therefore it's been removed.
See the sections on: being MINI related and image size.
WRX/STi's are very easy to make very fast. My STi currently has 377 whp with relitively light mods. That power has netted me consistant 12.00 @ 118-120mph. Top speed in the mid 160's (via GPS). Nitrous won't help much (traction). The AWD digs like crazy.

market. :D I use to have a modded WRX and it was fast, but always
had the fear of stripping my gears at the back of my head.
I spiritedlyconfronted a WRX Wagon entering an expressway at one time on my
MCS using just a Unichip and i/e, it was one MINI car length faster
to the speed limit.
Drive safely on the public roads. 115 is a wee bit too
I don't think it is just the WRX's that are cheap to upgrade, but more or less, turbos in general. Turbos are mostly computer related, so with an chip upgrade and new injectors you can keep climbing as long as the engine is strong enough. Look at what you can do for $1000 on an SRT-4.

I read an article in Compact Car where they tested several EV0's from various tuners and Vishnu Tuning had a car with a Stage II Kit that did 0-60 in 3.7 secs.
The Stage II Kit is less than the JCW kit so you really get a bang for your $$$. I almost bought an EVO when I sold my 03 MCS but ended up placing an order for an 05 MCS....the EVO is quick both in speed and depreciation.

Which ECU are you running? I was running the UTEC.
