german prosecutors finally acted

It is about time the German prosecutors finally acted on the biggest and stupidest emission cheat by the world largest automotive group. An arrest'd just been made. When the VW scandal first broke I predicted it was just the tip of the iceberg. There are many culpable parties (companies) including an engine management parts supplier who supplied "sample test codes".

He was out on bail in less than an hour.

It's just posturing just like with all the US side of this nonsense. Huge fines are published in the press to make the general public happy and then appealed for the next decade or two till they are little or nothing. GM, Ford, and Chrysler use to do the same thing back in the day and the same thing Takata will do eventually.

These companies have buildings full of lawyers who's whole job is to figure out ways around the legal system and to make it as cost ineffective for the prosecutors as possible.

It's unfortunate but it's the automotive world we live in.

What is ironic is there has been little to no press about the Chrysler eco-diesel gate issue, why is that?
