This reminds me of a friend who got a ride with some Jaguar club members who took their old Jags (one a racing D-type worth over a million) to Le Mans to support Jaguar when it first went back there in the 90s after a 40 year break.
The old Jags travelled in convoy on French interstates doing up to their maximum 150mph and my friend said it was obvious that they could do any speed they wanted - one French police officer even turned round and looked away from the road, to make it clear that they wouldn't get booked.
Apparently, for that weekend, there wasn't a speed limit for Jags. Nice!
