Just finished reading last night article on coming 2 series in 05....sounded like a well thought out small coupe from bimmer, curious how it might effect sales of MCS's or for that matter the MC in 05.....low 20's gets you 4 cyl 150 hp. mid 20's gets you 4 cyl turbocharged 200 hp and low 30's gets you an M2 with 6 cyl 300hp, six speed ultraquick sequential manual gearbox with paddle-shift actuation....design pictures look nice, better than 3 series IMO and the drivability and fun factor sound like the MCS only much quicker..... quote.."this new 2 series rear wheel baby rewrites the rules for apex to apex entertainment, nimble, communicative, straight forward. With this model we are going to reinvent driving pleasure on a more accessible level while at the same time offering classic brand values in a more compact package, this is our back-to-the-roots car".....wow, sounds a little like the Mini driving description

Add $10k for the //M2, and $5k for the rest of the line, and your pricing is closer to what will be. ......if BMW brings 'em to the 'States

1 series is not coming to the states, Europe only, 2 series is definitely coming to states in mid to late 05, convertible 2 series in 06, prices are correct otherwise they would be bumping up into the new 3 series in 05 prices (not going to be optioned out like many bimmers).........interiors will be basic as bimmer is trying to get back to the 60's and 70's 2002, although they did concede there would be far less plastic and more softer touch edges based on feedback (mini feedback maybe, laugh), also frameless side windows which make a coupe IMO, also like the Honda 2000, no key start but push button starting....good to see they are back to the roots of focusing on performance and drivability and not luxury appointments in the interior....guess we will just have to wait and see about the prices, but article and bimmer was clear that the market they are after is between the cooper and the 3 series which they call "the upper end of the lower-midrange segment" ..lol !

Where did you find info on the 2 series? I have only seen anything on the 1 series.

For a lot of information about the 1-series and the 2-series see this existing thread.

yeah....article on M2 is in May Automobile Magazine, very credible magazine, actually the magazine I saw the first article on the mini back in late 2000 when I placed an order, they estimated prices at around 16K for the mini and possibly under 20K for the S, so have to go with their credibility, moving the post doesn't change that as opinions should not get in the way of facts, unless you are George W...lol !
