I see these pop up for sale every so often really cheap usually with a bad auto trans. But I cant seem to find much info on these cars. From what I can tell the rear looks to be a drink cooler area, has anyone turned this into a more standard truck bed? has anyone really toyed with one of these?

 

Some are R50s and some are R56 justas. They will all be autos as they were most often piloted by late teen to early 20 something girls to sporting events and colleges. The roof will have a funny little hump of it that was where the can rested and attached to the top and the rear will have some coolers and another attachment point for the old can.

 

We had one at my dealership (toyota) that they spent a mint taking all the crap off of it.. it had a cooler bed area and a hitch. It never sold and got sent to auction.

 

These are out there. Google "Red Bull Mini Cooper" and you will see conversions.

 

There's a small fleet of them here in the twin cities. There were dozens of them last weekend at the Crashed Ice event

 

Funny that you mentioned this. The last TWO times I went to my dealer for maintenance, one of the Red Bull MINIs was also there for an oil change. Too bad I didn't get to meet the Red Bull girls...
