Anyone anticipate being tempted by the new 1 Series BMW?

The US isn't supposed to get the hatchback, but I think both the sedan and coupe versions headed over here will have in-line six cylinder engines, rear wheel drive, and mid-20's base price tags (I think). Just curious to see what fellow MINI drivers think about what will be an in-house competitor from BMW (probably about the same price as a loaded MCS).

well, last I heard, there was not going to be a 1-er sedan, but we do get the 3 and 5-door 1-er's, as BMW doesn't want to confuse 1-er with 3-er. Also, only 4-cyl. engines are planned for the 1 & 2 series, with 2.0L turbo being the top non-//M engine. I believe the //M2 get's a 2.4L four with about 250HP.

yea, I'm geeked for the //M2, but I'm not too thrilled about the Z4-meets-7-series styling....

Given that we already have a Thread on the BMW 1-series, I'm going to lock this thread so we keep the discussion in one place.
