Volkswagen Antenna Issue

Hey guys. I just thought I'd ask you since most of the people on the VW forums are ignorant. lol I just purchased a certified pre-owned VW Gti on Monday night. I was driving home yesterday from work when I heard a loud bang sound of the top of the car. I immediately pulled over. When I looked at my roof I saw my shark fin antenna hanging almost off the back of the hatch. On further inspection I can see that it was never properly sealed down. So water could have easily gotten in and on top of it theres now a dent in my roof. When I contacted my VW dealer they basically gave me the run around. I think trying to pin it happening because of something I did? They finally agreed to inspect it on monday. But I have a feeling that they aren't going to take care of it based on the way they sounded on the phone. I dont know if I should contact my lawyer ahead of time or should I just wait to see what they are going to do. Am I entitled to it being fixed and the damage to my roof ? You would think the antenna would be secured especially on a certified vehicle, especially when they brag how great they inspect the cars.

thanks guys!

If it is in warranty they should fix it. See what happens Monday before you call your lawyer. They should fix it cause they guaranteed that there was nothing wrong with the car. Now did something happen or did you do something and are convincing yourself that it was something wrong with the from the dealership? Good luck and keep us posted.

I didnt do anything the rubber seal was missing on the bottom of the antenna and when I hit a dip Im guessing it jarred it off. I also contacted my lawyer and he said they are liable for fixing the antenna and the damage. Since one of the points of there 112 point inspection is the antenna. I took photos of the damage and the antenna at the time of incident with my phone in case I need them.
