So a buddy of mine has a standard BMW 330D auto, and he is convinced that he would rip me apart, well im not so sure about that but what do you think? I wouldn't wanna get a bad hiding either.

my mini does 157 kw / 210 hp at fly & 230 nm

where as the 330 D does

150 kw / 201 hp & 410 nm with a kerb weight of 1615kg

MMM not sure cause I am not good with the conversions. But off the line BMW has got you. Depending on how good he gets a jump on you will depend if you will win or not. I think that if he doesn't get a ridiculous jump on you, you will start catching up to him around 30 to 40mph.

lol alright then, it seems I should rather have a rolling run with him than standing still. but wont he eventually pass me, with his 410 NM?

or maybe at a certain speed/distance he will only start pulling me in?
what speed/distance is recommended?

Are you running an r53? Cause if you are you won't have him very long if you catch up to him. Its hard cause you racing a car that should win but there is the possibility of losing. If you lose oh well no big deal

Go for it! Without checking specs I'm sure you're lighter than he is. Go out there and have some fun!

Who cares if you lose? You drive a Mini! If you beat him, he's the one with egg on his face. His "ultimate driving machine" got beaten by a Mini.

It'll be interesting. He's got the Diesil torque, but they're heavy as crap and don't have much of a top end. However, typically drag races are won with a good start. You'd have to launch it pretty well to drive around him.

Go to the dragstrip and settle it....legally. Just to make sure you're optimized, make sure you have as little fuel as possible, you're an R53, so you shouldn't have a spare, and take your air filter out. It'll be fine, done it a million times.

Also, be sure to tell us the outcome.....and don't puss out.

It'll be pretty even. The 228-hp diesel took six seconds to go from 0 to 60, and the quarter-mile fell in 14.5 seconds at 97 mph.. Your Mini, if launched right, should be in the mid 14's for the 1/4 with 210 hp.

Regardless of who wins, 0-60mph 6 seconds is slow these days so as posted above, why bother.

thats the E90 330D, the one looking for a challenge is the model before that, the E46 i think.

question: why does benjam83 mention that i should remove the air filter? wouldnt that allow dirty/unfiltered air to enter in?
