Help Locating VW Part

Hi Mini Folks,

I am trying to locate a part for my wife's 2004 VW Jetta wagon on line. I believe that the P/N is 1J0825245. It is the vertical plastic shield between the driver side tire and the engine compartment. ("It just disappeared! ")

Googling has been a dead end. Just determining the part name is confusing (transmission cover plate?, V-belt side engine cover?, splash guard?). Before heading to the local dealer, I thought that I would ask the 'car folk' on NAM for some direction.

Thanks

You might try asking my local VW club... hubby does their website for them and if I remember correctly one of the guys on there works at our local VW dealer and might be able to order and ship the part to you...

Hey, it can't hurt. Good luck!

The website is http://www.rcvwclub.org

I called VW for you and they said you are missing like 3 numbers at the end but the first few characters told him it was indeed a trim piece. Soo......

Does this look like the part?

If so, google this part number V222108 you'll see it come up or you can go here to see price comparisons

Since my wife has a 2001 VW Cabrio that I do a bit of work on, it would be
nice if there was a VW version of something like realoem on the web, but I've never found one.

Almost like RealOEM...

Go to 1stvwparts.com and click on OEM parts catalog. Search by year/make/model then drill down through the categories. When you get to specific parts, choose any one of them and click the show illustration button. A picture will pop up for the repair group and you can choose parts ala RealOEM.

1stvwparts is a VW dealer in Auburn, WA and they have good prices.

That's nice. No part numbers, but nice anyway!

I have ordered from them before. Altho nice...they are nowhere near RealOEM for parts inquiries.

Agreed. Seems like there's nothing comparable online for VW/Audi. Another option is to purchase a parts CD off eBay. Search for "VW ETKA". I bought a copy years ago and it's pretty extensive.

Wow...I didn't expect such an enthusiastic response. I will start checking out all of the links. Here is a photo of the part.

Smart alek

I found that site between posts. It doesn't cross reference back to the VW P/N, but gives me something to compare with the local dealer $$.

Thanks for your input.
