I have never seen a more perfect quote to describe my car.

Mercedes put me to sleep. May be except the gorgeous CL350 coupe, every other new Merc out there looks cheap and middle aged woman/man's car.

Give me any Mercedes prior to 1989 and that is a different story... Old Mercedes had that stodgy look/presence about them. You could tell they were manufactured with the best materials known to man at the time. Now they all look like pimped up Chryslers. Don't even get me started on how MB sank to low levels by making itself an accessible car company, lowering their quality to abismal levels and effectively turning their back on what they made them "Engineered like no other car in the world".

I totally agree about Astons. Ferraris don't do much for me. Much prefer a Lambo, Maserati, Alfa Romeo Competizione.

Tell me about it. I still miss my 1972 Mercedes. It was built like a tank, and the trunk was *huge*. I could toss four tires/rims back there and barely had to arrange them, and there was still plenty of room left. It's a far cry from the modern ones that are having electrical problems because Mercedes switched over to using biodegradable insulation on the wiring harnesses. (Hopefully they've fixed that with the very newest models).

Scott, those are my favorites. I have seen some well preserved samples from the era around here. The build quality, fit/finish and materials of these old Mercs set them apart from anything else made at the time.

I have heard the new ones are better in terms of reliability, materials. fit and finish, but Mercedes should have never departed from their own product core values.

A co-worker has one of the first CLK? roadsters and that thing is falling apart. The car is not even 10 years old. My MINI R53 feels luxurious right next to his rattle trap (He wants to get a new BMW 3 series hardtop convertible but the recession has forced him to keep the old Merc a while longer).

Those pictures were taken when the car was 35 years old, and everything's original. Not too bad for $4000. The interior looks as good as the exterior. The only flaws are some spots on the rocker panel and the trunk lid where the paint's beginning to bubble. I've sold the car to another MINI owner, and I hope he's repainted the car or at least patched the problem areas.

I think MINIs are stylish and cute... but I'm not quiiiite sure I'd use the word sexy on most. Maybe a few of the Dark Silver or Midnight or Astro Black examples.

I've always though of the MINI as cute in a "Stitch" kind of way:

Small, cute, lots of character... but above all a feisty and spunky little creature.

These cars are so sexy. I saw one going down the road last week. I almost gave myself whiplash turning around to see it's back end (going opposite direction of me..) It was awesome. Very nice car.
