DON'T DRIVE LIKE A GRANDMA!!!
The whole Kenny Bernstein, quarter-mile "who's bigger" mindset in some segments of the MINI community never ceases to amuse me. Not just the OP's rant; you can find lots of "0-60" and dragster threads on NAM. If you want raw acceleration, grab your Purina Feeds ball cap and what's left of your six pack of Bud (speaking of stereotypes) and go visit your friendly neighborhood GM dealer -- they need the business.
Instead, go find a nice, smooth, sparsely traveled highway with lots of those yellow signs with crooked arrows and numbers like "25" and "35" on them. Stay near the speed limit, but keep your speed up throughout (in fact, allow room to accelerate gradually through each turn). Respect the other drivers with whom you are sharing the road. Wave or give the ol'
at every MINI you meet. In this endeavor you will discover the true joy of MINI motoring. If reaction times, burning rubber, and overcoming an inferiority complex are your thing, I recommend Chevy or Ford.

I hear ya. Hey, this is the Internet! The rules are somewhat relaxed.
I don't consider 10- to 13mph over the speed limit in the city and most cops don't really mind. In the twisties psst-huhh 25-35mph over is fine with me, cops are gonna have too catch me. (unless theres bicyclist
then 15-25mph over) I want the little vinyl lettering stickers that say "I am not speeding I am qualifying" and/or I am not tailgaiting I am drafting"

The best roads are the ones where there is a general, governing speed limit for the less challenging sections (speed limit signs = regulatory) punctuated by twisties marked by those yellow 25 and 35 mph arrows (warning signs = not regulatory). You can often add on the extra 30+ mph or so (not counting weather, etc.) for the turns and still be within the nominal +/- speed limit zone that does not interest law enforcement. Unless you are endangering other traffic or on the obvious verge of losing control and appearing reckless, you can feel the G's and obey the law at the same time.
