Dodged a Bullet
I agree with lilruffcat on this one, what may be one person's thing may not be mine and vice-versa. I just wonder what motivates someone to get on a forum designed for owner's of a particular car and then go on about why they feel "they doged a bullet" by not buying one; just seems counter productive to me. I'm sorry that armchair didn't find the MINI appealing; I don't think Cadillacs are appealing to me, but I do not get on the Cadillac forum and tell them why I think that make of vehicle isn't worthy of my ownership.
Like mama always said,"If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything".
That's all I have to say about that.

I agree that it's hopeless and that this thread is beyond saving...
That's why he has the moniker "Armchair"
But hey...whatever blows your hair back.
Well, that seems appropriate as he'd certainly beat any MINI drivers on the way there, depending how many times he'd need to fill up the gas tank, of course.
Old Man/Old Fart Car for those that still think it's a "regular old Cadillac"... LOL

Video and discussion from champion racer John Heinricy of the stock CTS-V setting the record for production sedans around the Nurburgring and hitting 175 mph on one of the straights... Amazing what the old geezers are driving these days!

Lingenfelter = An owner that paid extravagantly to have a high end shop modify his car for him just so he can have bragging rights at Vette car shows.
Just don't take a Lingenfelter Vette to a dragstrip or roadcourse on the weekends, and you won't be upset about the guys who did it on their own for far less money that end up running better times.
Glad you are happy with your car, and that you felt compelled to bring it up in this conversation for whatever reason. Will you soon also tell us how much you earn, how big your house is, and how beautiful your wife is?
At least you are living up to the Vette owner stereotype of trying to overcompensate for something, just like you say Cadillacs are for senior citizens.
Now, go run along and polish your gold neck chains and pinky rings so you can cruise around in your Vette.
I'll be feathering my mullet and listening to Whitesnake while I drive around in my TransAm, so maybe we can meet up!

ooh, and it acutally looked like the thread would survive a lock.
IBTL.
By the way, the funny thing is that all the stereotypes you make fun of ^ are ones I would've associated with the owner of this car:

Sweet. Well since this guy can dodge bullets he must be in the matrix. Didn't you know gas is $2.50 in the matrix?
There's just really no point to this thread anymore, though.
Personally, I think a CTS-V used (with only 18k miles) for $27k is a great bang for your buck. Although, all things being equal, I would take an M5 over it after having tried both (despite the numbers from the 'Ring) -- but the M5s aren't around for $27k with only a couple years and few miles on them.
The caddy is fine with me though (glad to see GM finally making a performance luxury sedan) -- as noted before, I just think it's funny that someone would, as you put it, run into a Harley bar just to exclaim "Harleys suck . . . Long live Honda . . . Peace out!
Lock this thread, why...
It's way to much fun to watch the folks who think their MINI's exhaust doesn't stink dig deeper and deeper into the hole.
Take your head out of the sand people, the CTV-S is on heck of a car, especially from GM. Being the car enthusiast that I am I respect all types of Marques and Models. It's product that sells, and good product sells well no matter if it's MINI or Caddy or FIAT or whatever.
So this guy likes the R53 more than the R56. News Flash...ME TOO and I have MINI tinted glasses.
It's fine to disagree, but some of ya'll have absolutely no idea of whats going on outside the MINI market. That's OK, but don't blast someone because their wants and desires don't suit yours.
Now where did I leave that popcorn....
