HAHAHA, wow!

That is a lot of sound pressure (there is an understatement if I have ever seen one). Any idea on what they where playing in that video? Was it an actually song or some sort of straight up tone?

That is so insane, dont go doing that to your MINI.

Different strokes for different folks. I could just as easily call all that money you put into performance mods for you car retarded if I wanted to. Besides, it isnt as if they did it with the express purpose of blowing the roof apart (if the did however then I will say that is indeed very stupid).

it was "Push that *****" by Lil Jon

its a 30 second average on music. he hit a 159.5 i believe.

he was wearing ear muffs too.

its just a hobby. everyone goes crazy when stuff like this happens, or when you blow out the windshield.

i hope i crack my windshield once, just to do it, its cool in the car audio world hahaha

i deff dont want that happening to my roof though. i think the reason it flexs so much on his, is becuase his windshield and roof sort of flow as one piece, on our cars, our roof and windshield dont flow together like that, the roof is more of its own separate piece. so i should be good.

So how does the playback work? I listened to the song and noticed what I can only describe as basically a really low continuous tone being played through the entire song. Did the guy just "isolate" that part of the song on an equalizer and let 'er rip?

I think a lot more people envy driving a fast car than blowing your roof open with obscenely loud "Music".

But yes, different strokes for different folks.

u just let it play, its called Bassrace. no "burps" of any certain notes or anything. you pick a song that has a consistent bass line (everyone at the show used this song, seems to be a nice choice) and at the end of 30 seconds, whatever the meter reads, is your score.

his was 159.5 dB! thats loud, it was a steady 158-159 through out the whole 30 seconds as well

i think theres just about as many audio people out there, as there are performance guys.
its just what you like. i love audio, and always will. im just not into performance as much. i like it, but id rather dumb thousands into audio, than performance parts its just my thing. lol

Well that may be true, but then this isn't a popularity contest now is it?

That's crazy. Certainly seemed to pay off though, with a 159.5. Can you imagine the damage that would do to your body if you drove that and listened to it that way alll the time.

Lol exactly....emphasis on FAST cars....I doubt many people envy driving sub-250hp cars with 0-60 times in the 6's or maybe high 5's. .

Seems pretty ignorant to call someone elses interests "retarded" and then think that your interest is somehow more justified ...especially if you justify it with some concept that people envy your car's "speed"

Pimped- that's pretty crazy. What model Lexus was it? did he do any re-enforcing beforehand?

some do not CONSTANT, but bump a couple songs, let it cool off a little, bump a little more.

like ive said though, you either like it or you dont

i respect those who dont like it, its not for everyone. i need to finish my MINI though, NO one at the shows ever has a MINI. itll be cool to be different than the average van's/suv's with big walls

theres 6 more 12" subs above the ones you see, its hard to see them in the pic

I think most would agree that blowing your roof open is pretty "Retarded" regardless of how interested in it they are. There are people that think killing people is fun, I'm not sure if "Well, you may not like it but he does" works for that "interest" any more than it does for this one. I love audio, I think if I had more money I'd probably have put a nice system in my car, but as Pimped said, there are plenty of people in this "Interest Group" that think it's cool to blow out their windows, crack body panels, and other silly stuff. That to me definitely fits into my definition of "Retarded"

Spending tens of thousands of dollars to make your car as loud as humanly possible, so loud that it permanently damages the car, and probably everyone that's dumb enough to stand next to it without hearing protection doesn't sound very "Fun" to me.

If it actually sounded good, I'd be all over it, but this is just silly.

Like I said, to each their own.

(And last I checked having a car with a power to weight ratio of 7.5:1 is pretty darn enviable . That's only about .3 lbs off from a 911 Turbo...)

killing people is a whole different story...adding performance parts or a loud system isnt "illegal" (well, technically both can get you in trouble, but thats the price we pay )

I understand that.

I certainly don't compete with my car, I do what I do because I enjoy it, pure and simple. I was merely commenting on the ridiculous nature of taking your interest to such an extreme that it permanently damages your car.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming!

alot of people use cheaper cars/vans to compete in to that extreme, but this guy decided to use his lexus (not his daily driver btw)

he's got money, so its no big deal to him. he does what he does.
