What Do You think; modded MCS or ...
No I'm not pissy, i just think you're ignorant
You don't have to look for high performance in order to have winter tires. I think it's all about safety. If I can controll my car in any situation in the snow that's a huge plus.
And this is not limited to your Legacy. I would put winter tires on any car, AWD or not. I preffer to be in controll of the car every time and don't be one of those idiots that drive 20mph as soon as they see snow, but i guess that's just me.
Plus, think of it this way: is your insurance deductible $500? Well, a set of winter tires will run you about that if not cheaper
Good luck.

funny members we have.
yah, look out for those mountainous areas in Elgin with max altitude of
150ft. wooooo~~ i must have snow tires. hahaha.
jk ill juststay east of the fox river with the rest of civilization

btw, im just kidding with ya. take it easy.
You're ignorant by dismissing my suggestion that winter tires give you more grip and traction. If rolling along @ 20mph without any contorll over turning and braking is your flavor of winter driving, then go ahead.
I am taking it easy, I don't care what you do. I know I'm enjoying winter driving
No, not that you don't agree with my winter driving flavor.

i didn't "dismiss" your suggestion. per experience i have with awd and
snow tires and a/s tires, i just said i dont need the extra margin. awd
with a/s tires does it for me.
I had snows on my Stg 2 WRX as well, and LOVED driving in snowstorms. The only limiting factor was the number of other vehicles that get in your way... The sinister side of me always figured that during a blizzard would be the perfect time to rob a bank if you had a turbo Subaru with snow tires as a getaway vehicle... LOL

yall all gang up on me now.
imaging a car 1/4 the power of wat you guys have/had and add another
400-500lbs with awd. it aint going anywhere man. a/s tires are the schits on
a legacywgn non-turbo. dont waste your money. just dont drive like some
maniac.
now on a MCS in wintertime, that's a good investment to have snows.... or
just do like me. hibernate.
btw, you guys are aware i had a modded 02wrx a long time ago...

). Regardless of what you run for winter tires taking it slow is your best bet.
hey, thanks chili red07.
i think those wrx folks are thinking RE92's when we mention
"all season" tires.
those are garbage as far as traction, but robust as hell
even running very low psi. that's why OEM used it so often....for reliability.
anyway, going slow in the snow is wise.

I chose to run all seasons in 175/65/15 on my MCS this winter after having snows on my last vehicles (aforementioned WRX and GTO). There were only handful of snowy days where I would've liked to have more grip before the roads were plowed clean in a few hours. The other 90% of the time, the all seasons gave me more grip on the dry pavement and better feel than a snow tire would have in those same conditions.
I'm not about to throw R compound tires for driving during the summer even though it gives me "more safety and more grip". I know to drive within the limits of my tires. Same way those of us with all-seasons do in the winter time. We aren't "ignorant" because we choose not to use snow tires if we are staying within the limits of the tires when there is snow on the ground. I know guys who struggle through winter with summer tires, but that's the other end of the spectrum...
Every tire is a compromise, and just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion, doesn't make them ignorant provided they understand the different tradeoffs. I think most of us involved in this discussion have plenty of experience with and without snow tires and are well aware of the benefits and drawbacks.
At least snow won't be in the forecast for several more months.
