I highly doubt BMW will redesignate another M1. That is flagship that BMW is based upon. And with these crazy designs and off the wall slogans...they will disgrace themselves....Won't happen.

I had money down to get the first one sent to Global Imports and decided to pass for now...... I have an 02 Mini and there is no doubt the later 53s are atouch nicer.... I bought a cherry 99 Corvette convertible for fun in the meantime (it is fun.... have not driven it in over a month) I will still be one of the first in line to test drive when they get here

Well, the Wife unit surprised me and totally shot down this BMW. And I do not like the IS-F, so she is going to be driving her IS250 for quite a bit longer.

I am in Romi until 2017, so I am not even looking for me.

No, it is an automatic. The Wife unit can't really drive a standard. The IS-F sounds like it has a nice drivetrain, but it is hideous to look at. The Wife unit did not like the looks of the new Beemer either.

Actually, BMW has already announced the M1 based on the 135i, using the 340 plus HP motor from the M3.Resistance is futile....Believe me when I say the spirit of the old 2002 BMW is back!!!!!

what you're thinking of is probably the 135tii concept car. it's only a concept car, but it'd be cool if m does a high performance variant. but i doubt it'll be called the *m1* 'cuz of the original m1. plus, instead of dumping in a higher power engine, i'd rather them make it lighter and rawer and wilder and dial out the understeer. that'll be a truer successor to the 2002...or even the 2002 turbo

Could have bought the IS350 when we bought the IS250. The gas mileage and the better handling of the IS250 is what sold her on it. The IS350 feels nose heavy and the IS250 feels nicely balanced.

She really wants a coupe. If the IS250 was a coupe she would drive it forever. Just have not found anything that will do what the IS250 does in a coupe version.

Negative Sir! Not the Tii which if I am not mistaken has also gone past the concept stage (i.e. commitment ot build). See for yourself......and it will be faster than the original M1 at least from zero to sixty...... I placed a link but it did not work when I did a test. Type 2008 BMW M1 in google and feast your eyes..........

Sigh. I did not say it was a great handling car. I said between the two, the 250 felt better. I will call its handling better than competent for a daily driver.

I really do not give a rat's *** if it is not a race car, So you can take your silly *** opinion and shove it.

I do not know why I try to participate in any thread where you are. You are an arrogant jerk who makes it impossible to have a decent conversation. I will not make this mistake again.

I am done here. Goodbye NAM.

The Over Reaction to a Joking Comment Award of the month goes to: Skuzzy!

Anyway, I like the idea of a more nimble and lightweight RWD performance car such as the 135. Any idea what it will weigh in at? While I like the new Camaro and Challenger, they will be 3700-4000+ lbs and just too much mass.

I read somewhere that it will be about 300lbs lighter than the 3 series. Some people seem to have a problem with the weight....my take is that the structural integrity along with some level of luxury makes it necessary to weigh that much, regardless the power to weight ratio is still very impressive. Also consider that the MINI weighs a whopping 2500 lbs while a 3 series of the same year weighs 2800lbs. The original MINI weighed about 1100lbs; thats why 4 people could pick the car up!

dan - yah, that's exactly wat im looking for next. small, light weight,
FR, and MT would be most ideal... and less than $40K base price.

so the S2000CR and 135i coupe has been in my thoughts lately.

The 1 Series is not going to be light in any form, so I would scratch that off your list. I think I'd opt for a slightly used Elise over the S2kCR.

How about an M-version 1 Series hatchback, a la the new Sti?

yah, i shouldve stated light vs power... from the reviews i read the
car is physically heavy but doesn't feel that way.
