New Super Duty, for the loss!

Hmmm, looks like if anyone's in the market for a new diesel, they should look at either Dodge or GM.

Then again, maybe just Dodge because why you would buy anything from GM is beyond me but that's a discussion for another day... I've read its blamed on diesel and oil particulates getting mixed into the exhaust and igniting. I bet they really love those twins now!

One of my buddy's who likes Ford diesels said he wants to get one that hasn't been recalled so he could do that.

We have an F250 diesel crew cab and my son is disapointed ours won't do that ...but he said, "I definately want the Mini Coop to do it!"

I work at an auto parts store and sell way more GM parts than I do Chrysler stuff. Like the guy who needed a hub bearing and lower ball joints for his 2005 G6! Also, out of my 4 or 5 car friends, 2 of them have GM's that suck majorly and one's dad has a Buick that can't go 2 weeks without needing something else. Just callin' it how I see it.

That's unusual..the G6 is typically a decent car..although not great by any stretch of the imagination. How about the 2 other GMs and the Buick, are they new-ish as well? GM produced junk until a few years ago. I'm only basing my opinions on their latest products.

Their newest midsize sedan (Saturn Aura) won car of the year, their new truck (Chevy Silverado) won truck of the year, and their new midsize suvs (GMC Acadia/Saturn Outlook/Buick Enclave) have been getting very good reviews.

I can't imagine anyone picking a Dodge Ram over the new Chevy Silverado line..there's no comparison.

Just for the record my 103,500 mile 93 Buick Century that hemiheaded says "sucks majorly" runs like a champ and since I got it 2 years and over 40,000 miles ago has required me to change out my alternator and that is it aside from maintainance. My only complaint is it idles a little rough, but whatever it runs.

I am also sure that aside from the trouble we had coming from Indy in Zach's dads 130,000 mile Buick it has only required maintainance fixes. The last thing it was in the shop for was tires and inspection.

I don't know who the other GM is, but if it is his co worker it is a G-Body Monte Carlo SS. (1983-1988)

There are also probably 5 90s GM cars on the road for every 1 90s Dodge on the road. I see many, many more Buicks and Chevys on the road that Mopars that are going on 15 or 20 years old.

~ Derek

And also, for the record, yes, I would still love to get a 7.3T Ford F250/350.

O yeah, Eric is one of my good freinds, he just hates on my general preference in cars. He can't hate when I get a MINI though...because he already has one.

That's just because the Chryslers aren't worth fixing!

hey now..I like GM better..but my parents have gone through two Chryslers (one an '03, one an '05) and neither of them ever had a problem..not even a tiny problem.

they had Fords in the past too..and they were problem-prone..this was a long time ago..so I won't judge Ford's current quality.

OPINION START:
No, Just a few. And the only reason there are so many GM's still on the road is because the owners are too stupid to get rid of them. Its all opinions in the end, though. I'm entitled to mine, at least one person will disagree and life will go on. But the fact that DaimlerChrysler was the only domestic car maker to show profit in 2006 kinda says something. Like Ford and GM losing how many billions? But, I'll stop because I know Daimler is now dropping the Chrysler marque.
OPINION END.

Profit, at least in the case of the domestic automakers..has nothing to do with product quality or sales.

Chrysler was the only one to make a profit in 2006..but GM still sold way more cars.

Also, forgetting past sales figures of the big three..GM currently has the most promising future by far..and THAT says something imo.

I will give GM credit. I was talking a guy at work how I started this shoving match and he did remind me that in the last 1-3 years, the General did come really far in making improvements. The interior quality has gone up a lot but it's still lacking. His dad has an 2007 Silverado and its still "plasticky" and overall cheap. He traded a Ford F150 to another guy that had really soft, very tight fitting leather and the overall interior quality was much better. And, I'm basing my opinion on what I see coming in the door. I just see more high dollar, very involved fixes going on with GM's where there seems to be a lot less with both Ford and DC.

Who buys a truck with a leather interior? That is like buying a MINI to haul and tow...

travesty...what ever happened to the days of the "plastic" trucks seats like my dad's old F150 where you just sprayed down the interior to clean it.

Amen to that... all trucks (and Jeeps) should have floor drains, too. And waterproof dashboards, etc. And nothing that can short out. Ever.

Ah, the good ole' days. Slap a snorkel on it and cross a river. Now you gotta worry about dang computers and crap.

fwiw...the new GM trucks come with a choice of two interiors. One is the "work truck" layout..with a simpler layout and cheaper materials. The other option is the luxury interior. The one you saw was likely the cheaper option.

I've been in a new F150 Lariat and the new Silverado..the chevy has nicer interior materials. Actual build quality is likely the same since the Ford's is pretty good.

Yeah, but thats the way its going now. Look at the King Ranch/Lariat F250 (350?). Bright azz colors, leather seats with kinda cool, kinda lame leather rope for stitching. Why do you build a truck with a Viper motor? Why is there a Harley Davidson themed truck? Why does a truck have a blown 5.4? Why? Because they know stupid people will buy it because they can. Not because they need a truck but because they can. The same reason all of the beatoffs in my area buy a 250/350/2500/3500 with a diesel, lift it, put otherwise useless tires on it and use it as an everyday vehicle. Because stupid people are allowed to have money also. Someone explain why someone builds a truck designed to look like it could drive through a river of mud but its as clean as the day it was built. Why? Because stupid people are allowed to have money and they do whats popular. Whats popular in my area? As you can tell, its looking and acting like a retarded, backwoods, Deliverance wanna be piece of redneck crap. God I hate the people around here. That feels better.:impatient
